It's on again!
I have started work on the annual Burrum Heads pilgrimage event.
Full sponsor details and prizes will be posted as the details are confirmed.
Categories for this year will be similar to the previous event.
Once again we are running
Radar racers class,
Gps class with the following divisions.
1hr
NM
5x10sec
2 sec peak
ladies
Major prizes will once again be lucky draw.
I would also like to welcome local Geoff R to the management committee to help make the event even bigger and better for 08/09. Geoff brings decades of local and national experience to the table.
This year's event will also be combined as a WindWanderers travel meet. Burrum has a lot to offer both for those serious about going very fast and those looking for a party and some quality bump and jump conditions.
I will be keeping everyone up to speed and announcing the competition dates as soon as permits have been confirmed.

Below are Videos of last year's event
Yes, can't wait to catapult at speed and blow the head off my boom and shred my sail again.
Looking forward to it muchly. Any approx dates yet Gesty?
Great, look forward to actually being on the water this time around. As Sausage said any idea on dates yet? What month are you looking at? Don't say end of Feb as I will be down in Melbourne. I have heard a few people up here on the coast saying it is for FEB?? will there be any wind then?? or is it going to be April again
nope, it's not feb. it will be march.
the event is based on the best tides.
i will post dates by the end of the week.
now that you are back in action the other ladies better watch out.
the wind can be a fickle beast. this year has been very hard to figure out the graphs because they change so rapidly.
Burrum is fairly reliable with wind in march though. fingers crossed it blows. with all events the social side makes up for it if it doesn't.
last year was great. normally you go to a race etc then go home. at a longer event you get to pull up a chair, grab a pool cue and keep the day going. some funny stuff was said later in the night.
we are trying to organize a barge this year to ferry everyone out to the run allowing them to take more gear. something needed last year. We are just awaiting a costs break down.
Also, Burrum is a fantastic place to sail. it is unbelievable. hightide has km's of bump and jump and low tide kilometer's of glass to blast along.

just a heads up that i booked my accomodation today. will be staying from fri to tuesday at the Burrum Sands.
after last year the family is also looking forward to the trip.
thanks to Geoff we have also managed to sort out the barge for the event. The barge has facilities onboard and should hopefully make the event even better than last year.
cheers
Justin.
Hi all!
I'm down as tentative at the moment... been getting into the windsurfing again after a long break and all this gps stuff is pretty cool...
Vando told me about this event and it looks pretty awesome.
I just have to verify I'm not booked into any work comitments that weekend, but I'll then be there for sure!
Rolly
Looks like there might be 3 or 4 FNQ Mob coming down
It'd be good to catch up with the southern mobs
hi greentwig,
hope to see you there.! it's a great spot.
hi firie,
that's awesome. i know you guys have a long drive ahead of you. look forward to meeting the fnq guys.
Hi Jas,
i have a couple of options.
first is maybe someone has a spare space in one of the rooms?
second, there is a rental house next door that lst year we toyed with renting. the burrum sands people may know a contact number and others may also be interested.
another option is to check out some of the pther accom.http://www.jasons.com/Australia/Queensland/Burrum-Heads/accommodation/
www.stayz.com.au/accommodation/qld/fraser-coast/burrum-heads
www.totaltravel.com.au/travel/qld/frasercoast/herveybay/accommodation/caravan/burrum-heads-tp
i'll also ask around.
p.s. the town is very small so everything is in walking distance plus there is parking near the launch areas.
Here is the phone number for the San Marco holiday units which are located really close to Burrum Sands and look quite nice (0)7 4129-5224
I'm thinking of flying up for the event with the family but would like to send all my sails/masts/booms by freight and only take a couple of boards on the plane to save lugging it around airports.
We will be flying into the sunshine coast, what i would like to know if i could send my gear to someone up there and pick it up on the way through.
