Thanks again Darryl and co. I got a huge amount out of the three days and met some top people. A course like that should be mandatory for anyone at any level that is truely motivated to improve their skills. For me, I have many self taught bad habits. I only wish I could have done a clinic like this 20 years ago! Matt is a true professional, not only at many facets of the sports but also as a teacher, and it was a priviledge to have some one on one tuition from him. Thanks again. Now.. how do I gybe again!
Hi Guys,
Well, what a weekend. Brisbane did its best to put on the crappiest, coldest and wettest summer weather weather. But you know what it was still a great clinic, with great enthusiasm by all who attended, and i would like to think that everyone came out with a few things that will help them improve their sailing.
I certainly did. Now it is time to keep putting it into practice and unlearn our bad habits, and refine.
A big thanks to all who attended, Matt was so appreciative of the entire groups enthusiasm and effort in challenging conditions.
A huge thanks to Board Crazy sailboards and Simon for opening the doors on his only day off to give us an indoor venue to review video and continue the clinic. So if you guys are looking at gear i trust you will keep in mind the guys that helped us out and check out Simon's gear.
A big thanks to Simon tribe for help with the the graphics and arranging the course notes. He really does make things look nice and bling - cheers mate.
Thanks to Tim for helping out supply some Tabou Gaastra gear for Matt to ride on, and my cool new T's. Go check out the Tabou Gaastra gear over at board crazy - sweeet!
And finally, a huge thumbs up and thank you to Matt for taking the time to get over here, run a clinic in some fickle weather, as well help me tune my slalom board and fin.
Cheers Guys, looking forward to your feedback, and i'll be in touch in the future for upcoming events.
Darryl
Ze German says a huge "Danke!" to Darryl and everyone who was involved in organizing that clinic. I really do wish having done that 20 years back. Finally I made it to the Board Crazy shop - Simon: I'll be back!!! I am so glad having met like minded people now as I was sailing mainly on my own the last 3 years. Looking forward to see you all again - miss you already!!! How about an official debriefing - just to have a reason to come together and have more of these awesome hot dogs ....
Thanks Darryl for arranging this clinic and thanks to Matt for coming all the way to Oz and giving us such personal, useful and friendly advice Looking forward to putting many of your tips into practise
Thanks again Darryl for putting this together.
I never expected to get so many great tips out of a 3 day training clinic and was surprised how many of us have/had similar bad habits that we developed over the last 5,10,20 + years.
Not being used to such choppy conditions added to the challenge for me and firmly believe applying a lot of the skills Matt showed us will finally improve my sailing after all these years.
I would highly recommend this to anyone and would not hesitate to participate in any future course with Matt.
To all the people i met i miss you already and can't wait to get back out on the water with you again.
Personally, I think this should be an annual event even it if means getting different instructors from time to time if Matt can't make it every year (nothing personal Matt ).
I had a fantastic time, learnt heaps, and am even more enthusiastic (if that is possible) after seeing how much Matt still enjoys his windsurfing.
It was great to see so many people out there having fun (especially on Sunday), putting Matt's tuition into practice (well trying too).
That was one unreal weekend, it was basically a windsurfing safari with one of the worlds best windsurfers, who was also kind enough to do his level best to teach us mortals how it should actually be done and imparting knowledge it would be impossible to learn in a lifttime otherwise.
It was a real pity the weather was bad but to his credit Matt didn't let that phase him and still ran an awesome clinic despite getting a bit wet behind the ears demonstrating techniques.
A massive thank you to Darryl and Matt, the Bayside club and everyone else who lent a hand for making it all possible and also Simon for offering his shop on his day off.
Matt was saying he offers clinic's and even private tuition in Maui and after this weekend I couldn't imagine a better way to improve your skills. He is obviously a master of the sport but also really great at explaining the techniques to improve your sailing and leave you with knowledge that will help you to keep improving it everytime you sail.
Great work Darryl for put it together, big thanks to Matt for coming out to sunny OZ, much better than Maui. Just can't wait to give a good try out to all the tips that Matt gave me. Again big thanks Darryl top work.
Hi guys,
Thanks for the kind words, and I truly am glad that you all enjoyed the clinic, and learned a thing or two. Matt was really impressed with everyone, and the way we organized things, so would definitely return, hopefully a little warmer.
The Manta is now in Brad C's capable hands to give her a little carbon fibre love. We have a new fin so she will fly again.
Darryl
Just want to add my voice to the chorus of positive feedback. Despite the unseasonal weather having someone of Matts calibre helping improve my windsurfing was excellent.
I think everyone who went is keen to have Matt back again, and I'm definately looking at going to one of Matt's clinics either in Maui or Baja in future.
Big thanks to Darryl and crew for organising!
I won't add to the accolades from the weekend, we all know how freaking awesome it was.
Anyone else still practising all they learnt in their sleep?
I am beavering away on the video and hope to publish it to the team soon.
Matt the Master; looking forward to more tuition on Maui
Well organized Clinic Daryl despite the testing weather
All the new gear in Simon`s shop has got me drooling
Thanks to all involved; top weekend!
Tribey, does that mean you woke up from your sleep hanging onto your pole? Remember hand under, not over.
