U should not worry about sharks but use it to improve your jibing.
thanks to to all the locals at wellington yesterday very friendly had a good sail shame the bank did not come out to get flat water but hey good sail any way.
I always figure I've got more chance of being killed or maimed driving to the beach!

i wouldnt count on it if you were an average person that would be true but your not your splashing around in the water with sharks while every one else is watching tv , im pretty sure the odds of any of us getting taken buy a shark are way higher than dieing in a car accident .
I have always said the same I have a much greater chance of injury or death driving than actually sailing.
I have actually hit a bull shark at over 30 knots so I should know.
Happy to show you where the good spots are around Lake Macquarie.
There is no doubt that the fear of spending time in the water is certainly slowing down my progression/improvement with my sailing. Up here in the North we also have to contend with the possibility of crocodiles lurking beneath. At the end of the day if you choose to get out of bed in the morning you are taking some sort of risk. I enjoy sailing and the challenge of improving too much to stop doing it because of the associated risks.
As a previous shark attack survivor, I am already one of the rare statistics. The sea was angry that day my friends, a small bull shark latched onto the front of my leg at Manly. I threw my leg up onto the board and it let go!
Scot Farley simply said "where's its Mum?" and walked across the water to get out.
These days I rub tuna oil on myself before I go out. The odds of getting bitten twice are pretty long!
My only regret is that I did not rub some ink into the bite marks, would have made a great tuff sticker!

I always thought that it was just a wobbegong sucking on your big toe as you had been trying to waterstart for an hour.
I'm scared of hitting a turtle and falling into jellyfishes then being attacked by a shark and then bitten buy a sea snake before seagulfs eat my eyeballs.
But I still windsdurf!
After reading all your posts I'm just gonna stay in bed now and never go out of the house again 
And the crocs...... Did not see any when out today off the spoil banks (Port Hedland WA)

You were lucky to survive the encounter Bart, that thing was working its way up to your jugular.
