Good on you Trauma, nice result for the mere motals in the freeride section. Great day even if it cost me a carbon boom, new fin and another long walk!
I am very happy to complete this marathon ( and with bonus that not at last position at all) but even more suprised that my son Jakub finished second
To be fair condition there are quite different to what we are use to on Shearewater and gear was completely unprepared for that.
For example the leg back was very comfortable and quick but to the Island was constant straggling.
If you have some tips for somebody like me what it could be?
too big board (110L)?
boom to low?
foot mast not forward enough?
I am sure that if I have a chance to tune up everything could be even better, but have have been there first ( and I hope not the last) time.
Mega thanks again to Pat and the RQYS volunteers for saving me a HUGE swim when my boom let go near the island.
Bummed that I made less than 1/2 a lap, but the upside was I got a good seat to see the racing out there, it was rather enjoyable.
PS: for those interested in the wind out there it averaged 18 with a peak of 24 and min near the end of 12 (not for long though).
Lee, million thanks to you that I could borrow your board!!! Great day!!
Anyone knows where to find the final results?
What a cracking day, thanks so much to Patrick and John O'Brien for running it and for RQ for setting it all up and inviting us along. The wind God's also played a big part in some awesome racing, it's great to be maxed in a long distance race like that, coupled with a great course it was awesome fun.
Congrats to Brad, Vando and Pierre on there results.
What a great event. Congrats Pat and team for your professional organizing.
Course was spot on. I enjoyed the company of the kiters also.
Hats off to some of the guys on there big board and big sails in those conditions.
Great to see the Kites out there in the rough stuff as well pretty tough conditions.
Thanks for a really well organized event and allowing us kite sailers from Brighton to take part, it was a challenging event and we all had a great time. It was even more impressive to watch the windsurfers fly past us .. We would appreciate the opportunity to participate in other events. Thanks
Scott, my GPS had the race at 40.1km. Great to see so many boards and kite surfers.
It was fun and I sure was feeling it today. Slalom boards use a different set of muscles compared to the RSX I reckon.
