VP was ok, definitely not as forecast. It'd be good for freestyle though

It was my first sail at VP today. My thanks to all those who helped me out by pointing out where the rocks and shallow water are (I still managed to ding my fin though).

I had a great sail and will definitely come back next time the wind and tide are right.

OK, so given that its low tide at 12.30 saturday afternoon at Brisbane Bar and its 20-30sw is forecast - how suited is this to Victoria Point?

So obviously leave it till later in the afternoon so less distance to walk etc

So would VP be a good spot on Sunday if the 25kt southerly eventuates?

very definately yes....

The best spot in the bayside in a southerly.

will probably be a large crew there also.

Whats the water like at VP? Last time I sailed there it was very brown. Wello last few weekends has had really nice blue water, so might stick to that unless VP can offer better.

It was pretty good a fortnight ago. A bit murky in the shallow stuff but the deeper water was clean.

where abouts do you sail in a southerly at wello? i think the reason everyone heads to VP is the wind more so than the water.

but brown is good, means lots of wind.

2 weekends back I sailed wello no problems, Just sailed from the jetty side. Not sure if that was a straight southerly thou. Wind is a bit gusty in close (I had no problems thou 5.9+96L board), but sail a few 100m out past the channel markers and it was sweet.

Thou a few of other guys there were complaining, but didn't really see any of them sail further then a few 100m out from the shore so that's probably why.

Southerly at Wello isnt really that bad and like u say Swoosh once you get past the 2nd last channel markers its cranking.
