Are you guys keen to hold a meet at Bongaree at bribie on saturday,
wind direction is perfect and the venue has some of the best blue water sailing around. offers flat water speed at low tide through to very full on at high tide.
late notice i know, i had some trouble getting everything confirmed and had to re-arrange some familly commitments.
as there is alrerady some talk of hooking up at wello or VP i thought i'd pop the question.
i'm very keen myself and bbq etc is organised.
The last time I windsurfed at Bribie I remember getting towed back from the marker off the bottom tip of the island. Strong outgoing current sailed into a patch of jelly fish too chicken to fall off - and floated...
But the swells in the channel are sweet when your in a surf rescue rubber dinghy
Hey Justin - I was sailing there as part of the uni club so it was one of club members who rescued me on the catamaran although the Coast Guard did come past shortly after
Those arrows have been remarkably consistent for the last 5 days. I wonder if its broken.
Bongaree, yes I hadn't thought of that. Good idea. Last time we went there the wind didn't turn up.
What do you mean "the votes have been counted"? I don't see any votes. I might go up to see Al Green and check out GB if Bongaree's not on, or I might just go there anyway. Its more fun than GB.
Hey Notwal, if its sw don't bother with GB, Caloundra bar might be ok but Bongaree or Pebble beach will be best. I sailed Bongaree on an out going tide last year with the wind 14 - 28 knots and it was wild nearly broke my neck again with some huge catapaults. Only on an incoming tide now
Over on the mainland opposite Bongaree but round the corner a bit facing south. It's a right turn of Bribie Island road just before the bridge. There's a big carpark and a nice white sand beach.
If others are going up there tomorrow I'll come along. I'm keen for a sail but don't want to go alone.
How much chop does this area get?
Is it suitable for novice's like myself as I struggle in the chop?
Cheers
not exactly sure where this meet is, but somewhere along the channel at low tide the edge of the channel is a vertical drop, so at one stage you'll be in knee deep water then the next its over your head - can be amuzing to watch though[}:)]
Hey guys
I keep thinking I want to join you all for a sail, however I always seem to miss the meet. What is the best way to know when and where the next meet is.
