^ windsurfer one designs. Mk2 i'd say.
there will be 3 of us there that used to race them off the southern tip of bribie many years back. lots of fun.
Well the wind showed....or looks like. Hope every one had a good time
Never made it..emergancy dash to vet with family dog..so no sailing. dog Ok though.
Looking forward to the pics
chees
Thanks for that awesome day WW & Gestalt.
Looking forward to seeing some photos up.
Hopefully catch up with some of you again in my last couple of weeks.
well that turned out to be a great day! got loads of photos also..... scoped out a few future spots along the way.
it was good to see all of the locals watching from the beach. i'm sure they thought we were mad as the car convoy went through town. reminded me of me days surfing driving around looking for the perfect banks.
cheers for all that came along and for hitting the pub at the end. was a good turn out today. we just need to convince lee to come to one of the meets .....
thanks to pete for once again bringing his entire shop to the water and letting anyone and everyone try out the gear. i know for a fact that the lorch boards only came of the ship 7 days ago. there was even bubble wrap.....
^ yeah for sure will be back there. everyone liked it. it's funny i don't remember it being that good. where'd ya go for dinner mate? a secret spot?
hi climber, hope the pooch is all good. sounds like a toad run. my dog loves the toads. have had a few mad dashes to the vets.
Yes, that was a top afternoon's sailing. Big thanks to Justin for organising. We all had a ball. Great spot.
Awesome day and awesome people. Thanks yall, nice spot too. Dame warm water and great rigging spot etc.
yeah hairy had a gopro on. he was pulling some very big and vertical forwards so i am sure it will be fantastic.
there's always next time ken. i'll be going back at some point.
basically we started off at 2nd ave which really looked like it has the goods to me. the wind however had too much west in it so was a little light at the shore. in a strong southerly it would be cross off sailing there. will suit SSE-SE best.
we headed down to the lookout which gets the S-SSW winds cleanly. checked out skirmish point along the way also but i prefer the lookout as the carpark overlooks the beach.
while there i was watching the bank out from the surf club to see if it had anyhting going on. it was almost high tide and there were some nice rollers coming through. i'll be checking that out again. so the question as to the banks has been answered. yes they are as per both google and nearmap images above.
here is a picture of the big bank on the google earth image at high tide.
the thing to note is that bribie gets it's biggest swell in summer. back when i used to sail there there was no real bank so it was mainly just shore break. things have changed.
Today doesnt look as promising
Hey how much did your choco royal flush fin cost?
I was just checking them out, a 22cm looks ideal
Thanks Gestalt and Peter for bringing all the new toys.
Was good to sail there again has been a while, last time was in 1999 at the formula 42 national titles and our race up to Caloundra and back. Pubs changed a bit
pm sent scully,
kellie, i wish i had of been in australia for that. would have been great. i'm wondering if we should try a downwinder from red beach to woorim at some stage. would need E-ESE winds. only 3.5km but could be fun.
Thanks Justin for organizing the day! Great to catch up with some old (must be at least over 20 years since we last sailed with lungs), and new friends! Nice location, clear water, no booties, and a little swell to play on!
Hi Justin great pics can't wait to see some more am also keen to try again especially with more wind and swell. is the summer swell from northerlies would be good to try both directions at sometime.
you mentioned something about tides etc, whats good whats not
ever thought about a webber Q or something similar for places with no bbq's
great day allround especially the colour and taste of the water, looks and tastes like crap off reddy(probably is)
Hi Jo and Rob it doesn't seem like 20 years although the colour of Robs hair probably confirms it, we will definitely have to get on the water again before another 20 years dissappears.really good to see you again you haven't even changed and i'm already jealous of your planned trip to maui
hi vando, (a dumb question from someone who knows nothing about technology)
are those white spagetti lines on the pic from a gps and if so how far offshore are they before they gybe. I am no good at judging distances on water
thanks vando 20 years ago I would have been first in the water, nowdaysorganise a decent pick-up boat and sign me up - i'll drive the boat
