Just a reminder that we will be at Lake Cootharaba this Sunday 7 October for our first Slalom race. The JP/NP trailer will also be there all day with loads of new kit to try out and we will again be offering free beginner lessons in the morning.

Hi. I'm keen to bring the daughter around for some lessons.
What time do the lessons start?
Cheers Jeff
Reminder: there will be members lucky draw prizes there too. (We're planning on doing this at every event.)
You do not have to race (or be a racing member!) to be in the draw, just need to be a club member (social or racing) by the time of the draw, and be there to collect. Draw will occur after the racing is over.
Cheers,
Dylan.
Have fun with the trailer of toys, it's a great way to get friends to give windsurfing a try so tell as many people you know who have ever asked about the sport.
Please if you're coming tomorrow to race, we'd appreciate it if you have the right money. A bit short of $5 notes!
See you all tomorrow,
Dylan.
Awesome day, Thanks to Zane for showing me how to tack and gibe correctly. Really had fun with my Vintage out on the lake today. Spent a total of about half hour-45 mins out of the water.
I Will see yas up there on the 28th for another outing.
Also thanks to Kellie for letting me know about today and giving newbies like us a chance to learn in a safe and very friendly environment.
Thanks all
Damien.
We had about 25 people register for a free lesson on the day (with a few others sneaking into the training groups I think) and dozens more there to try out the demo gear. It was a great success, I'd say.
The wind was perfect for lessons all morning, and kicked in stiffly NE late in the afternoon. A lot of people had already headed off, so we call it a free social race, and Zane at LCSC put out a couple of markers for three quick figure 8 slalom races. New club member Bryn was the clear winner, I think.
Full report in due course, but it was, in brief, an excellent day.
It was an excellent turn out, I was the first to go out under Zane's instructions on the LCSC board, he is an excellent teacher, very clear in his explanations and very resourceful. Thanks again everyone there
What an absolutely awesome day! Stopped counting after about 25+ people signed on to have lessons. Perfect conditions for beginners up until about 3pm when wind finally kicked in at about 12 -14 knots. Ended up enough to run 3 fun informal slalom races. Full report including photos will be up on the site soon.
Thanks heaps to Zane for helping out with the beginner coaching and setting the course for the fun races and Shaun, Peter and Ray for also volunteering their time to teach all the beginners and Dieter for bringing up the trailer loaded with all the brand new goodies from JP and Neil Pryde and Dylan for cooking the sausages.
Memberships are steadly growing and was good to be able to directly sign up quite a few new members on the day.
Thanks again everyone
Kellie
A great day and well organized by Kellie and Dylan. Thanks also to Dieter from Sunshine Coast Sailboards for organizing the Neil Pryde and JP trailer, it was a fanastic to see so many people having a go on modern gear, The day was made more perfect when the wind came and and we were able to have a sail.
Sentiments echoed from me also. Great to see folks getting stoked on 2.0 sails and learner boards, what is all about !
Thought the Lake was going to teach me a lesson about not bringing a long board myself but was great to get out on the short board and have a blast on what was a pretty flat and fast lake.
Beers at the sailing club after were noted also. Looking forward to more windwander days at the lake.
Was a great day, had a ball teaching the kiddies and rounded off with a good hour sailing at the end. Count me in for the next one.
Well Done Windwanderers on organising such a successful event. We look forward to many more.
For those who may want to sail at the lake on a more regular basis,
The lake Cootharaba Sailing Club runs a learn to sail dinghy program every sunday morning through the summer. As well as course racing in the morning and afternoon.
The LCSC learner boards and rigs are availbale at the club for use of members. Zane has kindly offered to be available for sailboard trainig to be added to our Sunday program if there is a demand.
Anyone interested, please come and talk to me or Charlie or Zane at the club on any Sunday.
A couple of pics that were taken by myself and a mate.
And my Vintage Wayler mixing with the New Stuff
e New Stuff.
What an enjoyable day everyone had at the lake. It must be one of the best spots to learn to windsurf in Qld.
Congrats to Kellie & Dylan for bring windsurfing to the attention of so many people through the press & internet. ( 25 beginners & lots of spectators )
Thanks also to Dieter & Gina ( Sunshine Coast Sailboards )for their support.
