Great arvo at Shearwater, just wondering where everybody was, not many WS nor KS around.

Train was quite busy Flat water at low tide you could crank you GPS above 30 ktn without problem

I thought it would be too shallow at the train. Oh well at least I could try my free style wave after some time. It was pretty messy at Shearwater as one would expect after all these boats were running for cover once the southerlies hit.
Hey did you try your 9.8 in 25+ knots as you were trying to convince us at GPS & Speed talk forum you can handle it? You had a great chance today. I know it was not really your cup of tea 30+ knots, probably only 25 but great opportunity for you to have some fun and memorable blast.

Correction at 25 ktn and 8.0 not 9.8 go nicely on Train. There is graph above and I did survived on floppy , no cam 7.4 although next time 5.7 and smaller board is much better choice.

Yeah that was a sweet/scary session. Chop was insane as all the boats came in at 3

it's never as windy on the broad water as it is on the graph.

you need to remove at least 5 knots, a bit more depending on direction.

Yes , correct and there is interesting configuration that we could lift off from the beach , there is hardly any wind at all, then wind speed incrementally rises toward the center of the channel, when we could unleash full power on flawless flat water.
Then the upper turning point is a bit hassle as both the chop and high wind come to play.
That is why I am not willing to employ over sized sail on the Shearwater were the chop is at higher winds.

I saw few guys doing really fast runs yesterday. I wonder if they do publish any results on GSP forum. It will be very interesting to know what results are achievable in our conditions.

25 knots and 8.0 sail sounds like you need to get rid of that old inefficient king size bed doona and get something more current. You're probably loosing the air through the stitching holes and Dacron
Now that explains why you can handle such a big sail......

Didnt miss much was a bit of north at times and got softer. The Marina wasn't the best spot but had a good time for an hour or so, need to wiat for a proper NE, that felt like NNE/N so there was wind shadow/maybe it even had some W at times. I think HC had a better time at the KFC
