thanks looks like another storm on the way 4 us too tonight
not very good here. got a little better later but not much more than 16knots at best i'd guess
tomorrow hopefully
Top shots Justin, there is a lot of electrical activity around but no rain yet. Cars are under in case it lets loose. Sounds like everyone had a great day today. We were at Wynnum, it was my first time there and I was well impressed. I will be going there all the time for high tide NE days. Was on the slalom gear but some of the ramps were very tempting.
i'm keen for a sail up there too! chairman and i thought about going up that way tomorrow, but i got to go to airport tomorrow night so 2 trips up is pushing it. Next NE I / we would probably be in it
wow, they're great! how'd you take those ones? have u tried hitting them with the levels etc? the second might come up tops even as JPG.
i agree, that second one is insane. i had to use 10mm lens just to get strikes to fit in the shot. awesome to score a hit like that
Some great photos of lightning! From Bella
I love the photos of lightning. And some of you![}:)]from Marley
hm its not all that much further, google maps link: www.google.com:443/maps?f=d&saddr=Waterloo+Esplanade&daddr=-27.465556,153.239021&hl=en&geocode=FdZaXf4dEkEhCQ;&mra=mi&mrsp=1&sz=14&sll=-27.455122,153.222542&sspn=0.04189,0.062141&ie=UTF8&ll=-27.456798,153.211899&spn=0.083779,0.124283&t=h&z=13
It was mainly nik's fault hehe, he wanted to find some nice ramps cause wynnum was a bit choppy and bleh.
Yeah we get gear failure too, but i figure worst that could happen would be to derig and then float back to shore, there was enough wind that we woulda got back pretty quick lol.
vicky pt to wello :o, thats pretty far lol
I found that with Wynnum on Saturday, the ramps aren't great, just seem to be at the wrong angle. But the wind there is good.
thanks for the link swoosh.
how does it fare compared to manly being only a beesnoodle away? ramps better at manly?
It was a bit all over the place today really. The best ramps today were probably at wello actually.
I think manly is a bit better usually as the channel where the boats go out kinda acts as a amplifier and you can usually catch some good ramps there. However didn't sail down to the actual manly harbour today. Wynnum is a bit too open i think, so it ends up being a bit of a mess. But at wynnum on the way in you get into the flat section which is dead flat and waist to chest high for about 30m, great place to have a crack at vulcans and stuff. Sandy bottom too, nice place to sail, and nice grass to rig on too, thou for some reason there was rocks all over the grass under the tree :/
And I think in the NE-ers what simon said before hold true, it is usually a bit windier at wynnum then manly, which is windier then wello. Thou today it was pretty good everywhere.
Actuall if ya really want ramps the eastern side of wello on about half tide in a 20knot NE wind is prob the best you will find in the bay.
Almost makes me want to get bump and jump gear again
if you guys want ramps, with a south easterly, anything over 15 knots. there are some huge ramps between green island and wello!
I have never windsurfed there yet, but we sail there all the time.
