Im no journalist or magazine editor so Im going to try and give my best attempt at describing the 09 Starboard Evo 70L wood.
First of all Id have to say that the graphics are cool as. Definately much nicer than previous Evos.
Was a little confused at how to tighten and loosen the footstraps but sussed it out after a few sessions. After that small hurdle I found the straps comfortable and love the anti twist screws. For me this was perfect. I always find that the single screw straps twist on me. No more now.
On the water it just blew me away! Literally! I know you hear everyone say that their board planes quickly but this board seriously does. No dogging.
The first wave I caught I buried the rail through the bottom turn without loss of speed, the board turned back up the face of the wave without me even thinking about it, also without loss of speed, and SMACK off, around and back down the wave, again also without loss of speed. The obvious thing that stood out to me from that first wave and every other wave after was that there was no loss of speed. I instantly thought WOW! What have they done to this board! It feels programmed. A board that makes you zero to hero during the first session. Lots and lots and lots of drive.
Excellent turning ability wether its through a gybe, bottom turning or weaving along the wave face.
Its light and built strong. Ive used it about 10 times now and cant stop thinking how much this board is by far the best board I have ever riden. Ive taken wipeouts, big jumps, catapults etc etc etc and there is not a scratch in sight.
If you want a board to ride real waves or onshore mush then this is the board! You cant get much better than this.
I will post a few photos of a session I had on the board.
Sounds like you like it... what other boards have you had? What size are you?
and why didn't you go for wood carbon?? coins??
I'm jelous...not so much about the board, but you guys are getting waves in the west while we are sailing the lake pacific ocean. Looks good Greenroom.
