I loved my four batten Chopper mk2s

But the three batten version is unreal if you enjoyed the four batten.

The bottom batten is huge and the pocket seems distended - but there's so much power and you can ditch it all with a flick of your wrist. So much control and so comfortable to handle. You have to rig it right for it to work. It's nothing like the four batten and if you rigged the four batten and it looked like this you would be horrified Tighten the bottom batten so that the vertical creases are gone - it will be quite bulgy.

The top two battens will lie flat and shapeless when they're correctly tuned, when you pull on the downhaul the luff should be flapping and extend past the top two mini battens.
This is normal for this sail.

The bottom mini batten is the one to gauge.
You've gone too far when the loose leach extends down past this.

It has so much power from the bottom batten it's unreal - but you can literally just switch it off, but also there's very shade of colour inbetween on and off

I will never go back to sailing any other sail while they still make these.
I went from Ezzy Wave - Blacktip - 4batten chopper - 3 batten chopperm I definitely found my niche. But if you like a lot of feedback and grunt from the sail - it might not be for you, but if you like precise controlled power - it's definitely worth trying.
Just make sure its rigged right or you won't get it.

How are you judging sizing? e.g the original choppers felt like a size up from the actual area.

I have a full set of choppers S, M, L, XL and really like them.. Not selling ever. Run XL/5.3, L on 370cm and M, S on 310cm masts. Last time I used 5.3 Mk2/XL, I rigged it the crappiest way ever, probably 2-2.5 inches off from the spec on luff and boom lengths as the wind was light and it worked super well. I was totally baffled. These (4 batten ones) are not amazing at anything but good at everything. The benefit for me as a non-pro is that I can enjoy the scenery when rigging them not even paying attention to the downhaul setting.. So if 3 batten ones are sensitive it's a bummer.
