These Photo's are making me home sick for uncrowded waves!! It will be good to get back next week, here's a few more pics , see you all in Jan
Hope you got that front foot back in rossy.Or is that a new Forward move.
Everything was going so well, until the split second before the tail hit the water, then it all ended in tears!!
Hey Zac - any idea where the Thevernard wind obs have gone from the west coast observations?
They seem to have disappeared - how do you get an idea that Walkers should be on without it - Elliston is a 3 x a day reading?
Hi russ haven't looked for thevy's obs for a bit, but ellistons obs are taken from the post office in agully behind main front dune (however 14knts se is cranking) and thevy's are exaggerated by 5-8knots due to point compared to bay. Have been using stormsurf.com (www.stormsurf.com/locals/soz.shtml )which is quite accurate compared to synoptic bom chart just to check if prediction is in time with high or low. click on wind or surf just above pic and it will give 7 day forecast of sa.
Obviously swell is overpredicted like Bom so if we see 15ft that is about a 3m swell depending on direction. Showing a good SE on sunday and Monday up the coast but only 2m swell, min we look for is 2.5 to 3 otherwise it could be flat! Hope that helps Russ
Nice wrap up Zac - been doing it for years - remember when there was no internet, no swellnet, Storm surfer and the maps were the only things we used for surf trips - nothing like reading the paper looking at the weather maps and looking at a huge sw storm tracking toward WA knowing that some time in the next few days the swell was going to rockn roll so you hit yorkes or streaky and crossed your fingers that the planets would align
when we lived in the NW WA- it was just campfire talk that a swell was due and you wake up to the crack of a Bluff shorebreak and a rush of adrenaline - wondering what the morning light would show - those were the days.
But the question remains WTF happened to the BOM Thevernard readings????
