Barmera Kite boarding and Windsurfing experience Road Trip. 1st/2nd Nov 2008
Hey Crew, Onboard are heading to Barmera again very soon. For a demo weekend of Kite boarding and Windsurfing. And before you ask, if there is any water in Lake Boney, there is heaps…
Barmera is the one of the newest up and coming kiting and windsurfing community. With heaps of young groms getting into kiting/ windsurfing and one of the locals hold the fastest speed records for windsurfing.
The weekend is a chance to get the locals fired up and be able to ride with other people. This will also show the Barmera and Riverland community how much fun it is to ride, and party.
The weekend normally involves a bit of on water fun, and heap of drinking. The Saturday night starts with a meal at the local footy club then a bus ride to Berri to the Vines disco, this is where the weekend is made..
The weekend is the 1st and 2nd of November 2008..
We are all staying in the Lake Boney Caravan Park, right next to the lake. Please call to make a booking Ph (08)85 88 2234
Any question hit up Onboard (08) 8294 3866 or Stewie 0419 847 215..
It’s the weekend to not miss!!!
the last 2 years has been great with the onboard crew, this venue is growing !last years sund
ay morning session saw a strong northerly which was a fantastic session .we have a couple of speedsters in town who have both hit ovr 40kts, anthony and chocko, very dedicated to the gps racing, then there is a bunch of other recreation sailers and an ever increasing group of young kiters. we have a 20m sandy beach and 50m of grass steatching for 500m so there is plenty of rigging room. i am putting on a bbq and some drinks on the day .please give me an idea who is interested so i can cater for the day. i will garante a great weekend .
I will be heading down and hope some more of the Boggy crew can make it. This is my windsurfing birthplace and I love coming back to were it all began, racing the cats in the old days.
I will bring the new buoys so that we can run a fun race(s) - conditions permitting.
Pete from OnBoard has put up a slab for the winner.
Should be a fun weekend.
Cheers
Tim
Hey guys, This windsurfing Barmera experience is getting heaps big, that’s to all the crew that are coming, so if you still humming and haring about it, its time to book in at the caravan park, get a slab on ice and get ready for 2.5 hours of driving..
Its going to massive, even if there is no wind, it will be a good chill out, but there should be wind..
Sounds good shame I broke my toe last night
Plus I don't think my parents would be to keen on going as it is getting close to exams
I was fighting with my brother and whacked it on something to busy trying not to be knocked out that I don't know what I hit.
Oh well I have to give my Bic gear back on the 31st so there is no way I would have gear for barmera anyway
Cheers Pittsy
dont do it , its going to be tooo windy for a tent . Does the caravan park allow tents ? I'll give them a tingle
tomorrow.
booked my accom. today , sounded like there were still plenty of vacancies at c/park,lookin forward to it.
Thanks pirrad. I took your advice. I booked a $68 cabin for two
nights. All I have to worry about now is what type of slab I
should buy :)
LASTEST UPDATE.
So I hope you getting excited for the biggest weekend of the summer. It has got so massive, over 70 crew heading up, mix of kiters and windsurfers.
Saturday night, if you are still standing from the days activities, the football club is serving dinner (that’s is heaps cheap and tastes heaps good), as well as dinner, There is a DJ with a 21st that we have been given permission to gate crush until the Vines starts up.. How cool is that!!!!
There is no need to have a designated drive for the night, there are heaps of taxi and Mini bus to get to us from Barmera to the vines in Berri. That are cheap.. I will give the phone number out at the footy club or at the lake..
The caravan park is stoked to have us, just 2 things, if you are in a cabin, bring a sleeping bag. The 2nd thing is the caravan park has a code access gate, only one code for each car, please don’t transfer to get extra cars in, it crashes the system. They are happy to give as many codes out as we need.
Lastly if you are heading up after 6pm on Friday please let the caravan park now, so that can put you keys out.

Hi All,
Thanks guys. It was an excellent weekend (for me at least). Nice to meet you all.
Saturday was a dive. I think if I got up early, I would have got an hour of sailing in
(I stuffed the alarm setting on my mobile). However, I got up nice and early on
Sunday and got a bit in with Steve.
Saturday was spent sitting on the beach. In a disappointed mood, I walked up the
western coast and took some pics. It's like being on a different planet. I wonder
how old some of these trees are ?. Enjoy:http://www.flickr.com/photos/29188884@N06/2994248123/

BTW, Pleasure sailing with you :). When I saw you nailing it across the lake
I did reckon I did the quickest rigup time :). That first 3 hours made the trip worth it.
It's the 2nd time I have planed now :)
you and i were the only windsurfers to plain all weekend i thinkactually anthony looked as though he was plaining at one stage during the big race, aint those one designs great.tim might say he got on the plain to on the way back in
so good to hear all the possitive feedback even though it didnt blow sat. i really enjoyed the weekend myself and have had heaps of locals asking all about it. lots were really keen to whatch you show you style and saw those that came early for the friday arvo sesion and sunday morning .it would have been a spectical on sunday if there werent so many sick puppies- some of you guys play hard. saw a few rough scabby vomit heads sunday! hard to believe pete and sellers came fishing at 7am after 3hrs sleep. on the serious side many thanks to all those who spent the time and money to support this event . this will only get bigger. hope to see you all, and more next year. thanks to the onboard crew!
