Spoke with Timmy two weeks ago about it - he said there was a slight chance he and Dean R may meet in Perth and head down. Havent asked him again.
Spoke with Terry North and they are keen to get some reps from all the states but they are limited to 70 competitors. From the conversation it seems that the earlier thoughts of a small amount of assistance for a state rep were canned - I belive it had something to do with some of the national reps not wanting to nominate and support 1 rider when they will have several heading over - so the money has gone into the prizes.
Should be a Be a great event
You planning on heading over Scott?
im keen to. hard to sort time off work cause its the end of my holidays end of jan. how long is the drive?? thinking about taking the van over and just camping it.
I had some left over credit wit quantas so I booked a flight.
Keen to find out if anyone is doing the drive and has a spare spot for a board? It's hard taking 2 on the plane + rig. Pay in coopers.....
scotty i will keep you posted. wil sort out if we can afford and if i can get time off work when i get back. but if i do go will be taking the van so taking a board or two is no probs!
Thanks Chocko,
What do you mean double life? I wear dresses all the time.
Might need a bra soon........
Where's the photo of you with all that make up on?
one of the scaryiest photos i have ever seen. ever tryed a forward with that attire on??? am im process of organising something. caravan park will definatly be the go for me.
cheers chris
scotty how u getting gear on the plane???? asked them today and your allowed 23kgs each person. just wieghed my board 3 sails mast and all its about 30. i could do it cause there is two of us going. what gear were you going to take??? will i need my bigger gear?
I have not flown with windsurfing gear lately but in the past with Qantas its been no problem at all. Virgin ok too, don't eva fly Jetstar or Tiger.
The best way to get your gear on is;
- be heaps early
- be polite
- be patient
- don't pack any one item over 30kg
- minimize clothing and put it in your carry on luggage.
Worst case may pay some excess.
I plan to take;
1 x waveboard
3 x sails
1 mast
1 boom
1 x sup
1 x paddle
isnt jetstar pretty much qantas??? im taking my waveboard 3 sails mast boom. i asked them yesterday and they said that its like 10 bucks per kilo which wasnt too bad. going to lash out and buy airfares today. then just be broke for rest of holidays! need to sort out accomadation and transport. were u stying scotty??? getting excited now.
booked with virgin! they have a sporting allowance which gives you a extra 5 kilo for free and luggage just has to be under 3mtrs. easy done! so pumped. im 8 months too old for juinors. that sucks! see you there scotty!
were taking swag. hiring a wagon bomb. have a bed anywere then! easy. i think that terry north is letting people crash at his farm about 10 k's out. should be a sweet fun event!
Take it all back about Qantas. No longer windsurfing friendly at all. No allowance above 23kg. Had to pay excess both ways. Will fly virgin from now on. Quantas is off my list, its a high price airline with no customer service. stuff em.....
all you need to do it be under weight. which with windsurfing pretty much means buying two tickets. me and gemma took 2 boards 4 sails 2 masts boom and massive double swag. = 56kgs on the dot! and NO excess! sweet. proud of gemma for packing for a week in a little carry on bag!
