I notice a lot of folks using Severne these days.
What's brought about the change enmass (apart from the obvious local connection)?
I guess with so many in use it would be a good time to ask feedback on how well they stack up in performance vs price in comparision with the other major players.
I did notice there were about half a dozen identical severne sails at semaphore last night! Must be what the cool kids are riding with.
Seriously though, where are people buying these sails from?
Seems to me that they are a Good price work well and not too many sail designers venture out explain their sail range buy some beers and go and have a sail with the crew.
Had my S1s for two seasons and like them - everyone used to be on Gaastra and they have faded since prides have been pushed by local retailer - Severnes offer an alternative for those that aren't fans of blue circles
Seeing the main crew that test them sail - mckercher stone and ben is enough to make you want some
But each to there own
Dont sail them at the moment but seem to be very price competitive, good build quality, aussie developed and sailed by top sailors, that seems to be enough for me to want to start using them!
Anyone who has tried one will know why. I suggest if you dont want to buy new sails, best don't demo them until you do. And you get to choose red or red!
I bought a new swat a couple of months ago and it has already started to delaminate Dont go el cheapo!
Are hot sails Maui and Maui sails one and the same? I have a couple of Maui sails and don't like them too much. No guts to them... Makes trying to water start interesting....
I bought 3 new swats back in october. So far they have been bullet proof and for the money you cant go wrong. My 5.2 has been used plenty of times
hey hazzelbanger,
You need to test one, i will be amazed if you can't feel the difference, better materials, so feel much lighter in your hands and easier to use, rekon thats a good thing for learners, intermediate and advanced. Hey windsurfing is meant to be fun, all windsurfing good. But like all things manufactured, some are good, others are better and some work harder to be the best. Be interesting if the other, so called major brands, can catch up?
my ageing and varied quiver boasts a 2008 4.5m blade, i never have a bad sail on it. i love its wind range, light crisp feel and rip stop windows
and ive given it plenty after it spent its infancy in gero. so surely things would have gotten better since then.
only seen TAA's and maris's sails on the water and the look wild.
gotta be stoked with that level of customer service karina
HB. I suppose there are better products (and it's most likely an individual thing too), but I am sticking to what works. I've tried a few recommended brands/models and they have not worked. I didn't go down the Neil Pryde band wagon as I didn't like brand matched masts/sails concept. I got stung with this when I was a Mauisails user. I like to brand match gear, but if I break a sail/mast when it's a bad time of the year or financially inconvenient, I like to have options (be this borrowing a mast from a mate). Most of my quiver is Gators. These sails have lots of settings and an extremely large wind range. I've owned gear (freeride) with very few settings. Once I'm over powered on them, there's nothing that could be done. The only criticism I can say with my sails (model years range between 2008 and 2011) is the luff cutout is very high. No issue for me, as I like a high boom, but if I preferred a lower boom, this would be a problem.
Ben: Love you gear
Hi all,
Saw the Severne boys out at Coro's ealier in the week, man can those boys sail. There is certainly an increasing market share of Severnes over here in the west, only a few years ago everyone seemed to be on ezzys.
Have ya spied the new gorrila wave masts for $600, with a 2 yr warrenty. How good is that. Has anyone used this mast yet on a Blade I'd be super interested to know what they thought.
