Looks good, I stayed not far from Vivonne before Christmas last year hoping for a bit of sailing there, struck a windless week. But the snapper, crayfish, marron & yabbies nearly made up for it

Kudos to you sailin there by yourself! I have surfed there many times and have always wondered about sailing there. Given the vicinity of seal bay the next beach around I would say it would be fairly busy with mr whitey. Nice work.

Yes Maxa - it is a great place to visit - plenty to amuse the family with too. I was lucky this trip - 2 fronts came thru during the week and brought 3 days of SW'ly sailing (side shore). I think there's a sea breeze effect as well because one sunny day I was fully powered on 6.0 when both Capes were showing only 16-18 knots (?). I'd like to try W'ly which would be side off. The SE facing aspect of the beach takes the edge off the swell that pummels the coast too which is good. I surfed Pennington yesterday and the bigger sets were closing out the whole cove and it was a humbling (read 'getting smashed') experience....

Definitely don't sail Vivonne if you're still learning to water start - then at least the risk is comparable to or probably less than surfing! With risk comes reward - imagine finding a Cape Verde style break right in our backyard! Better drop my boom, improve my sailing so I'm ready (thanks Geoff - they say the camera doesn't lie)! The search continues....
