The is a super fun place to sail, Wednesday last week was classic, howling cross offshore 4.5 weather but super easy. A little more swell would have been nice but even at head high the rides were super long.
Saturday is looking OK for a local East Beach/Bell Buoy sail, all welcome.
That was the coldest day I have sailed all year but probably didn't compare to that trip you did down to the Henty, damn that looked cold!
Hey Al....will be out on Sat maybe east beach as well, don't have a wave board so if you know of any I might be interested, will just have to go out on my slalom gear for now...Paul
I just missed you on Saturday Paul , I think I saw your Combi heading back into as I did a late dash to the beach ( I got tied up with "stuff" for most of the day). East was very gusty and tricky when I got there but at least there was a little swell.
I am thinking of a Bakers mission on Tuesday morning (20-30 westerly forecast) or maybe Bell Buoy if the wind looks suss, it would be great to have some company on the water. It will be v cold, snow is forecast.!
That's a good photo Al, better conditions than we get down here. When I'm back on the water I'll come up and keep you company, the few times I've sailed Bakers have all been good.
The 20 to 30 westerly forecast for the north coast was enough encouragement for another Bakers mission on Tuesday but while the wind was in the 5.0 to 5.5 range the swell was a little disappointing. I think that there was a little two much WSW in the swell to really be consistent. Regardless every 10 minutes or so there was a head high set to allow a few turns dtl. Yet again it was icy cold with hail storms creating regular lulls in the wind. It was fun anyway, its just a relaxed and beautiful place to sail.

so what do you think is the optimum angle wsw?? im buying a wave board soon if i sell a sail and i have all ready got a wave sail,so im keen to try it out bakers....also when is it at its best, high tide or low tide??
ok, na have just got some older wave gear as im still buying more top of the range race gear with 2011 stuff on the way.But thinking on a single fin JP FSW 79L 2007 model.any way keen to see how i go on this and try a bit of wave if im keen.
Izaak, Al is right, I've also been to Bakers a few times and never been disappointed. You should give the waves a bit of a crack, you would nail it quickly judging by your speed sailing prowess. Most of the wave guys down here are taking up the speed challenge so we have to stir the speed freaks to hit the waves, just adds another dimension to the sport
