thats great dave hard to beat that again at dorans.must of been really on the edge at times with chop and swell all over the place.....i know what it feels like just to do 40 in flat and then to got into chop thats like 30cm in places trying to pull up...let alone what you had to deal with.

I'm keen to get out by 10 and sail for around 4 hrs (125 kms). Within that period need to get one good 1 hr of over 20 knots!!! Russ, be great if you can target the same!! Plus anyone else who's part of the team, as the more trying the more chance we get that two peopel will get a good set of numbers. This would put us straight into #1 position!!

Mortimer might be better than Doran's tomorrow angle-wise, but I think Dorans will have a more consistent wind, so happy to go there. See you there Bear!!

Steve's back Sunday evening, so no sailing for him this weekend!!

Russ, make sure you format the SD card. If it works, all should be good, if it doesn't, then it won't work and you will need to get a different one.

Russ if you look at the manual on the CD that came with your GT-31, it tells you about memory cards, how to format them and how you can tell if its an SD card that is compatible with the GT-31. Hope that helps

Hi Easty,

Certainly not like sailing behind a sandbar!! Wind was swinging from W to SW, which made the angle regularly change, which in turn allowed it possible to bear off down existing chop lines. This was the key to getting some speed up. Below photo was taken after we'd all come in. Wind had dropped off from what it was, but gives some idea as to where I was sailing (in the shallower area) and what the conditions were like.

I tell you what, the biggest issue was making sure I knew where those two steel posts were. Whenever I couldn't see them I was a little anxious!!

G'day Izaak
Unforunately(or fortunately) I'm wavesailing at Marawah at the moment so won't have anything worthwhile to post. I did take the GPS out at 3/4 mast BOL didn't get trashed thank goodness. Nothing much worth posting, but I'll put it up anyway.

When I went out on Monday it was a big high tide, and sailing back on one run the top of one of them appeared in the trough of the waves, just a metre to my side - I could have easily impaled my board (or me) on it.

While we are waiting for mast, if/when. Perhaps we need to ring them again this week.
if no luck then:
Why dont we just get some pvc pipe and a couple of bright orange bouys and slipe it over the existing stake. if any one is standing next to one today take note of the diameter of pipe etc needed.
WT would pay for materials needed, i am sure it would be only $50.00 odd.
better do something if MAST dont give an answer, bit risky for us and especiallly if we had a learner day.
cheers

and by the way dorans only 12-15 knots sw at the moment.

Are those steel posts about half way out where the deep water meets the shallow? If you're sailing from the boat ramp and don't drift downwind too much you should be ok right?

I reckon the wind'll pick up a bit soon, so I'm still planning to be at Doran's soon after 10.

Russ, I reckon ditch the 50L, bring the 76 and the next size up!!

Be good to do something about those posts - they were only just sticking up between the waves yesterday as well, making it pretty dangerous.

Yesterday was fab at Dorans, rigged a bit too big though, now poor old 4.7 got hole in it. I'll be out for another blast sometime today.
You should all live at Lauderdale then you know when it's a good time to go out.
