Paul and Myself have been trying to plan a trip to the Henty for a long time, looks like Easter Sunday is the go! up to 30 knots west forecast at this stage.
Who is keen to come with (guide) us?
Or if anybody has any info for us about the track in or possible camping spots please post it up.
Not sure what site your looking at. But forecast is not good for henty, at the moment at what im looking at. Too northerly now? I will keep an eye on it anyway.
Looking at seabreeze, looks to swing NW later Sunday. but yeah NNW earlier SUnday... will keep an eye on what the forecast does...and cross all my fingers and toes
Thanks for the info guys, latest forecast has changed it all pretty dramatically... will keep watching and make a decision a bit closer...
Dead set keen to see/sail the Henty
Just like clockwork the forecast is now up to almost 30 knots Sunday afternoon, We will be going very early tomorrow and staying overnight....
Who else is coming?
Dont know if we will go to Henty. Looking at trying the cemetery run at Stanley. Im worried the run at henty might be wrecked, but then again it might be good.
Henty turned out to be really good, Paul will be able to explain directions better but Saturday was around 20 knots allowing planning full length both directions, Then Sunday picked up to 25-30 knots making one direction a nice bear away run before swinging more west allowing more full runs in both directions.
Paul lent me a seat harness which I quickly became very attached too, cant imagine going back to a waste harness now. Got some great runs and took lots of videos... stay tuned..
Been a long time coming but the Henty was worth the wait!, magic.

Good on you Ben and Paul for getting there. The forecast was looking on and off up until Sunday, but looks like it ended up being great. Glad you got to experience it. Looking forward to some Go-Pro footage or photos when you get a chance.
Had a blast at the Henty. wind was a bit light on Sat. but at times it was great and we did the full length of the run. Lots of shallow sections and sandbars on the windward side to watch out for so we couldn't get to close but the run was flat all the way and also wind shadows in front of the hills and high sand banks on the leeward side. Sunday the wind kicked in but was too north until after lunch when it went more westerly and the run was open with 25kts of wind average. Was keen to improve my NM and did so quite easily but only got to just over 39 max so the 40knt barrier still eludes me. Did not feel overpowered at any time with the 5.6 blade and I feel the isonic 86 still has more in it. Maybe next time. Heres a vid of the run and will also post a vid later of the weekend trip.
.beGreat to see the river still there. It should really clean up and get alot better again threw winter, so should be good.
Nice video Paul, great to see yourself and Ben make the effort to go there and get some nice wind
Such a special place when you're there
Great video, first one of the whole run I think? Looks like it's still OK. As Izaak said, hopefully winter rain will widen the channel and take some of the shallow section out if the run. Definitely looks like it's still worthy of a trip next time it blows.
I reckon Henty River would have got a good torrent through it after Sunday's rain up there. Here's a shot of Montezzuma falls on Sunday.....it was really speccy!
Nice vid. Wait to you go to Henty and you can sail the whole way centimeters off the sand. So hopefully over winter it will clean the edge of it up. And you will love it even more!!
That's a really great vid men well done and well done on the pbs too, just got to get you closer to the sand and pick up a few more easy knots.
Jez I reckon you could launch a small boat at the bridge, but as far as camping there who wants to go on a good forecast every time I have been there we have had hail.
Dave and Perks had the right idea, stay in Strahan.
