Come along to the Learn to Windsurf/Fun Day, in Southern Tas at Dorans or Cremorne Lagoon on Saturday 3rd Dec, 12 noon to 4pm
If you are keen to give windsurfing a crack or have a friend that's keen, come along and meet some of the local sailors who will be there to help you get started on the windsurfers provided.
With the new Leaner Boards you can get going and get a good feeling in less than 30 mins.
All you need to bring along is a wetsuit, wetsuit boots and a life jacket
We'll have a BBQ running all day so plenty of snags and soft drinks will be provided courtesy of Windsurfing Tas.
We can do with some help so anyone keen come down give us a hand and get some sailing in at the same time that would be great.
Also if anyone has a big board that is easy to learn on please bring it along, the more boards we have the more time the beginners will have on the water.
This day is all about fun and is welcome to anyone of any age, just turn up on the day and we will look after you
If you want any more information or can help on the day please contact Anthony Houston 0417577884 or Damien Wallace 0409854754
Keep watching this post for more information about where we will hold this event, it depends on the wind, but will be either Dorans Rd, Lauderdale or Honeywood Drive, Cremorne Lagoon
Wont be able to make it that day unfortunately, Fergus is having his 12th birthday party. Hoping for some wind the next day for the second round of the Tassie champs.
Thanks for posting the event. Great day for everone to bring along a friend and let them have a bash!. Just remember if anyone asks you about learning to windsurf, then this is the afternoon to give it a go.
A reminder about booties or old runners due to the odd rogue oyster,
Stay tuned to this channel...............
Feel free to bring your own learner board ( if you have one) if you are going to teach your family/freinds.
Yes there is one at seven mile beach. That is the closest at only 5 minutes away! just google for phone number details etc.
Great if you come down for the learner and slalom weekend.
cheers Damien
Rustbucket if you are comimg down and have room in your van/truck would be great if you have access to the 2 northern learner boards to bring them down for the day, understand if you can't cos they're so big
Thanks for the info Damien, Houston Where are the learners boards kept, the ones that Al had I think are his own. Should be fine to bring them down
Here is a little poster to hand to you mates.

If anyone has a learner board or something close to it could you bring it along, we only have 3 WT start boards and we're getting a fair bit of interest in the day.
I've got an old Thomen that's OK.
Please ring Damo or me if you can help out with a board and rig

Ruskbucket there was one at the Leven Yatch club and one at Port Dalrymple yatch club
Be great if you could get hold of them and bring them down we'll definitlty be short of boards
I reckon Perks should know where they are
I didn't think there was one at Port Darylmple, but there was two at Leven Yacht Club?? I may be mistaken though.
If someone can get the Ulverstone Gear to me in Launceston I will take it to Hobart. Have sent an email to PDYC regarding any gear they may have
Havent sailed at Dorans since the last learn to sindsurf day. Great spot and perfect for learners.... I will be there!
I have a 120L (or there abouts) "speed" board I will bring if we have room but it is a bit narrow.
Just had a ph call from Perks I'll call into leven yacht club sat (tomorrow) morn and check out the 2 boards and see what needs to be fixed, about 4-5 months ago they said they would chip in for any repairs/replacement bits required. Hopefully everything still works and I will see if I can arrange to have them sent down with someone.
Thanks Johno that would be great if you can somehow get them down to Launceston so Paul can bring them south. If there is anything missing still send them down cos we can make up the parts.
Seems to be more and more interest so we'll need them.
Last year we had 12 boards and over the 3 days got around 100 people on the water, we're playing this low key so there'll be less people but we do need more boards
Thanks everyone for your help
Checked out the boards at Leven today and one has a mast section broken and the other one the rig is fine so Paul is there any chance of meeting you on the road somewhere Between Dev and Exeter this week to give you the gear?
Jonno, still take the rig along with the broken mast section, as we have spare masts parts down here from a similar rig that broke a few weeks ago. Windsurf Tas. replaced it.
I think all those learner masts are ending there day as i noticed the ones we have down here are starting to split/delaminate.
Thanks Jonno and Rustbucket68 for helping out.
not a learner but would like to meet some folks and i dont mind helping a bit and the slalom boards :)
No worries we are all organised
Hi Anthony, It's Chris here. I've got one of the learner boards at the moment. Loving it by the way!! I have access to 2 old school learner boards with complete rigs. One is a one design, one is a high fly 300 (I think). If these would be helpful, I can bring em along. Let me know.
Chris
