Come along to the Learn to Windsurf/Fun Day, Lagoon Bay, Low Head on the 9th and 10th Febuary!

If you are keen to give windsurfing a crack or have a friend that's keen, come along and meet some of the local sailors who will be there to help you get started on the windsurfers provided.
All you need to bring along is a wetsuit, wetsuit boots and a life jacket

Ben Wilson/Paul Tenteye/Al Cook are organizing this event and will be stoked with anyone that can help on the day.

There will be a BBQ available for you to cook your lunch.

This day is all about fun and that's what's windsurfing is all about, Windsurfing Tas will have learner boards/rigs available to borrow after the event.

If you want any more information or can help on the day please contact Ben at Ph 0400638795 or email: bearhooverpup@bigpond.com

Keep watching this post for more information

On Ben's behalf, I say absolutely Antman.
Not sure how we can get it - but it would be excellent to have.

I will be there on the weekend spreading the love and giving any lessons I can, although I can devote the entire weekend this time - so any other help I know would be appreciated by those experienced and have spare roofrack/trailer space :-)

Good to see you can spare the whole weekend mate!

Rod - ABSOLUTELY, I finish early on Fridays. Even if there is not much REAL wind we may be able to introduce you to the "Rosevears seabreeze effect"!

Ant - As Johnny said... shame I was in Hobart last weekend too... anyhoo if anyone can transport this for us to Launceston please let me or Ant know.

Ben, the Techno may also be be for sale if anyone up north is interested in a 150litre intermediate board for around $500.
purchased by the club last year and not needed. UNLESS you guys think it would get long term use up north by WT it may be better to pass it on to someone who is looking

I'm still in Hobart, Heading home on Sun with a plan to come to Low head on Sat morning at least.

Ant, I might try and swing past your place over the next couple of days, or give me a ring if you are not going to be about.

I'll have my new Statboard Start (and hopefully new learner 4m sail if it arrives on time) on one or both of the days, and will be happy to instruct a bit too.

My brother (Craig) might turn up with kiddies, the eldest one is keen, has had one go in Bali.
I told him to have a look at the Techno, it would suit him for his kids to learn on, and he's also looking for a "plug & play" freeride board for himself. He'd just need a good kids rig to go with it.

Great Sigmar, I'm looking forward to seeing the Lorch Simmer Boards. Forecast is still looking pretty promising, at least for sailors...Not so much beginners, but that is the beauty of Lagoon Bay, can tailor the needs for anyone.

Would have been awesome to use you as a courier to flood Tassie with 2nd hand gear from the mainland - Bass strait kills our costs getting boards here.

There's money to be made in bringing in some 2nd hand gear - not just windsurfers either.... I mean other gear, you know, not like drugs, just things like ...oh nevermind... just windsurfers then.

* oh, and will your gear be available to Demo Pete?

Great day, lots of people turned up and spent a lot of time on the water giving it a real quality session, a few repeat learners too!
Couple of quick snaps - I'm sure the boys will have a bit more to say, was pretty wild out in the river, some awesome air times by Al.

Was a great day..a bit too windy for some of the learners especially in close where the wind was gusty but a few got out and persisted. Also a few people showed up that are getting back into windsurfing after extended breaks of many years which seems to be a trend. Thanks to all those whom helped out for the day. Most of us managed to get out and take advantage of the windy conditions making for a very successful day. The day ended with beers and a BBQ.

Another great day at lagoon bay with plenty of keen newbies and a few have taken away windsurfing Tas. boards to continue learning. Todays conditions were much better with a light 10-15knt nw for most of the day allowing some of us to get a few runs in to Kelso and back with the outgoing tide. Lots of kids got out today and had fun. Highlight today was going out on Chris Flood's tandem Starboard gemini and doing some great runs with Ben and Chris, the kit is awesome fun. Thanks Chris ( I think Johnny got some photo's) . Thank you to all that helped and participated to make a very successful weekend.

Yea another great weekend guys, lots of effort again, but very rewarding too.

A couple more pics, the Gemini is the ducks guts - Thanks Chris - just amazing.

Oh yea, the run with Chris on the Gemini was just insane across the channel - huge (for me) ramps, with Chris lining them up and running them down driving hard from the front, scared the hell out of me, but what a rush.
Then he slips a foot for the strap and falls backwards! I'm hooked in, holding it - WTF do I do... see below we drifted so far out with the current in about 3minutes!
Managed to hold things steady from the back of the board - and I mean standing-on-the-fin back of the board - clew in the water to anchor us as steady as possible - in the channel, trying to hold ben's 7.7 cammed sail - was a handful!
Still incredible fun...

Truly awesome weekend. Learners out in force with some signing to windsurfing tas as Paul said, beers, bbq, Rods motorhome and 4 great sailing sessions in a row... and the gemini... man o man that thing is awesome.

Thanks to all that helped.
