Gday all,

i know there are plenty of GPS'ers in Tas, so may i ask:

i'd like to test some GPS HUD code i'm working on. the idea is to display the speeds (inst,2sec,10sec) and heading in the corner of the FPV video. you can see these from top to bottom in the attached frame of low res video.

please PM me if you have a few mins of first person video with a GPS track going in sync?

i plan to release the code once i know it works ok...

thanks,
Kurt.

One of the guys in South Australia (I think it was Hamma) did this with his then record NM of 38 knots. Date of the run was 30-06-09, but can't find his post of the video. It showed his GPS speed in real-time as the video played. A lot of people commented of how good that was, but haven't seen it doen since. I recall him saying it took quite a while to get it all working. Be great if you can do it.

I haven't got any video and gps tracks readily available, but Izaak would probably be your best bet!!

It was Kimba ( Tim hemer ) the SA speed demons captain. was taken at clayton in the channel a couple of years ago,
might be on the sa speed demons site

saspeeddemons.blogspot.com/

or most likely on Tims own site

whitelionwindsurfing.blogspot.com/

found it for you here it is.

Thanks Jimbob, that was the footage I was referring to!!!

Kurt, if you can allow real-time speeds to be easily shown on video footage, that's great! I'm sure there'd be more people wearing cameras on speed runs!!

Gday AUS02,

I went to Tim's site and read that he spent about 10 hours to make the vid. Pretty funny cause that's exactly how long I spent to get it working!

Hopefully it'll be easy to use as I've set things up for the non-tech minded, and I'll provide a few pointers on how it works.

Before I release the code into the wild, I'd like to wait for a few more reviews and maybe test on the push bike so the code is a bit more stable, but yeah, I'd love to see more speedo's on the clips too! :D

Thanks,
Kurt.

I'll get some on Australia day with our dash for cash.

Maybe I can con Dave or Steve into wearing the helmet cam

awesome, tried to get some on the push bike, but the GPS kept bugging out in the clutter of the city, but even still it was getting close with headings and speed roughly ok

if you can snag some real footage, would be a much better test :) no worries if you can't tho
