What a fantastic days sailing we had for the 3rd and final round of the state slalom series.
Located in the third and furthest channel at East inlet, the flat water and 18 knots of wind created an ideal setting for some serious sailing.
The one drawback we had was the current ripping out with the tide. This caused the buoys to have to be relocated several times to keep the course at an appropriated length.
About a dozen sailors battled it out at each start to try and get the edge and place themselves in that prestigious pole position coming into the first turn. Time after time James Brient showed blistering acceleration to streak ahead of the pack.
All up 6 races were held with plenty of time left for freesailing on the low tide.
A relaxed Barbeque in the evening topped of an awesome day. Perks even found time to celebrate his 2012 dominance of the GPSTC by ripping up the dance floor trophy in hand!

Sorry I missed meeting & presentation, wasn't sure where it was held. Can you put up the overall results for the year too.
Another great sail this morning at Stanley, bit windier than saturday.
Great night Saturday night, just a shame I broke the harness line as soon as I got into the channel.
Anthony, do have the shot of the soldier crabs scuttling back across the sand?
Fantastic day, I'm hooked on the racing, a bit of an adrenaline buzz with 17 sailors hitting the top mark pretty much on top of each other.
The BBQ was a bit of a hoot with Perks and the Pink Lady setting the scene on the dance floor..........I discovered Fitz could really strutt his stuff on the floor and left the Pink Lady for dead but he did insist on me being the girl and dance kak handed........not a problem I quite liked it.
Headed off to bed around midnight only to be abducted and hustled into the drag queens (Fitz and Strewy) caravan. Think we cramped their style as they kicked us out at 1pm..........they had big plans for the rest of the night.
Oh and guess who hogged the trophies
looks awesome. wish i was there!
absolutely gutted just got back to ireland and it has been snowing. wind chill -12 celcius yesterday.
Hey Tom!
Yeah, you'd be loving it. Quite a few smooth easterlies at Stanley.
Have you been getting in the water? Where have you been sailing?
Great photo's guys I think they have made a few people jealous that didnt go! Congrats James on taking out the racing up there
Should add my congrats for the photos, too.
The race photos are awesome, Johnny, absolute classics.
Obviously I quite like Al's pics too, i borrowed one for my avatar.
Hope you dont mind Al? thanks.
Yep, great photos. Was such a good weekend. Lots of sailing and a day off to 'explore' on the Sunday. Surprised none of the 4WD photos got posted!!
Gutted to have missed out on that... but land boarding to the Eastern inlet and back was pretty good too
Absolutely. We had a great wind direction getting all the way up and 98% of the way back without stopping. Stupid how quick you "could" go on them things.
Would be great to do it with a heap of people next year
