Kazza, are you going to attempt another meeting, 3 weeks we'll be back into the windy season, wha da yoa reckon?
Haven't got many replies back as to when it suits people.....so we're just waiting a bit longer for some replies so we can get some idea.
Hi guys, Thurs night sounds good. Thanks for sending out the letter Clyde. Weekends dont really suit.
Hi Kazza, yeah sorry I couldn't make it Saturday, as advised something came up. Week-nights are better for me and a Thursday sounds fine.
Hi FoS,
We did discuss the calendar of events a while back (under a different thread)!!
The events that are already scheduled (dates to be confirmed) are as follows:
• Formula/Slalom State Titles Round 1 (Formula) November Hobart
• Formula/slalom State Titles Round 2 (Slalom/GPS) January Hawley
• Formula/Slalom State Titles Round 3 (Formula) February Port Dalrymple
• Formula/Slalom State Titles Round 4 (Slalom/GPS) March Stanley
• Wave Sailing State Titles TBA
• Dash for Cash/Sandy Bay Regatta January Hobart
We also have "The Showdown" course racing event in Oct on the Derwent which is hosted by the RYC.
As mentioned before, events can be endorsed by Windsurfing Tasmania (WT) or managed outside WT (like the Dash-for-Cash, which is run be the Regatta Association). In the past it has mainly been state title events that are run under the WT banner as this is necessary for them to be considered "state titles" (ie recognised by the state association), however, there is no need for events to have WT involvement.
The planned meeting sounds like the way to go to discuss this further, including what's involved to ensure organisers are covered against potential liability (whether WT endorsed or not), but ideas on event format would be great to develop online .
Don't forget we also have the GPS Teams Challenge which is year around. A lot of the focus on this site now is on people achieving their own Personal Best (PB) times. The longer one is involved in this the harder it is to achieve a PB and the more sweet it is when you do!! This comp also allows local Tassie sailors to compete against the worlds best (there are a huge number of professional sailors from around the world posting sessions on this Australian site now) and beat them too ...!!
The AWA is keen for all state associations to submit their calendar of events asap for posting on the national website, so it would be good to work on this and get it all finalised.
Hi Karen/Clyde,
A Thursday night would also be OK for me. This coming Thursday??
Thanks for the letter Clyde, great to see you are keen to get things fired up.
Regards, Stewart.
hi all
here is a logo i put together for the tassie speed seekers ,we could change the tassie speed seekers to windsurfing tasmania, maybe print t-****s ,the gps team challenge line could be printed with tassie speed seeker or tassie wave sailing ,which ever the buyer wants or maybe buy one of each.
Hi Karren/Clide,
Thursday night is fantastic for me as well. Thanks for the letter Clide. Looking forward to getting back in the water and having blast.
Cheers Russ
Cool some responses. At the moment we will pencil in Thursday the 26th Aug, how does that sound, starting around 7ish?
Perks I like your logo, maybe we can keep the original logo and just add an updated sail of some sort. I like that logo except for the sail, and maybe add a little wave curl for the wave sailing logo instead of the straight fast lines.
Hi WT Committee members,
We'll have another attempt at holding a meeting again. Thursday 26th August 7.15pm at our house.
Please let us know if you can make it or not so we have some idea who's coming, so if there's not enough coming we won't waist our time again and then we can change it to a time that suits the majority of people.
RSVP 24th August
Cheers,
Kaz & Clyde
Hi Kaz and Clyde
Please apologise for me I will not be at the meeting.
I know it would be good for all committee members to be at the meeting but its just not practical for us up north to go to work then travel for 4 hrs then 1 1/2 hr meeting then would have to stay the night and travel home 4 hrs the next day.
If the meetings could be worked in with organised events as in the past it would be easier for us to attend. In the meantime I am happy to help and add my comments via email on any agenda items if need be.
Johno
Hi Kaz and Clyde,
An apology from me also. Just too busy at the moment with school and work!
Kind have to agree with johno on practicality business.
cheers Jordan
Kazza, I'm in for the 26th. Had a chat to Kaleb the other day and we suggest marrawah for a fun wave sailing session from friday 7th January to Sunday 16th. That runs over 2 weekends and suggest not a competition just some fun in the waves. Good to get some mainlanders over so we could advertise on the Vic and NSW forum. Could you throw that on the agenda, i'd like to confirm those dates if they don't coincide with any other event so people can book time off work and accommodation if they don't want to camp.
Your the computer guru Dave, if that can be organised it be great, I'll have my laptop that night and I'm on Skype
May be the future of committee meetings..
