Whenever the wind is best. High tide is at around midday and it's quite high which is why I'm pretty keen to try the shallows off Five Mile beach, but it'll only work if it's howling. Otherwise will just continue down to Doran's for a blast. So probably aim to be on the water somewhere by midday.

Seeing how my work goes, I wouldn't mind trying out 5 mile, I need more speed, meaning some flat water.

I had an absolutely awesome time at 5 mile yesterday. The flatter water was perfect for my ability (or lack thereof :-) ).

All going well, I might be able to head out again for an early afternoon sail tomorrow.

I gather it's the carpark at 5 mile near the horse riding school half way along the road between 7 mile & Tasman Hwy....correct Dave?
Gosh where to today, still a lot of north in it. The Derwents going off!! Someone is kiteboarding out there. Lauderdale front beach or wait until it turns more west and go to beautiful Dorans. Are you sailing today Russ?

The wind has proved too tempting -- I've taken a day of rec leave, so after taking the kids to rocket tots in the morning I'll be out on the water... Maybe by 11:30ish. Look forward to seeing you all out there!

Yep, that's it. I hope to be there by about 1pm if the wind is still looking OK. Be good to have a few of us out there to see what it's like. I've sailed it a few times, but not with the current gear and the tide was a bit too low when I did have a good blast, so you had to keep out in the deeper water.
