My old job was great for seeing new/great houses.
The best i saw was this simply square/box house, very similar to picture 3. and it had a negative edge pool out the back, at the edge of its property showing a kickass view of the ocean.
last 2 are aussie!
i figured since i'm squatting in the tasmanian forum i may as well give a pictorial representation. [}:)]
hey gestie - isnt that bottom one Rose Siedler house?
Love pic 3 and 6
all your faves have little enviromental cred -the use of high thermal mass materials such as concrete and high embodied energy materials (glass)
got some pics of design with some cred to show us?
i am sure the taswegians love their new design forum
I don't understand why these homes don't have vernadahs? wouldn't it be better to keep the sun and weather off the main walls?
hi ben,
i guess the thermal mass eviro cred depends on what the local environment is and glass over it's life cycle could be argued to have a low embodied energy and is certainly lower than plastic.
all of the above designs have enormous cred, yes some of them are from the 50's and we now know a lot more about the environmental side of things these days but these are some of the classics.
yes the bottom one was done by siedler.
throw up some images of good enviro stuff. although that kind of an oxymoron as we are only looking at the aethestics and not the planning.
hi choco,
what if the house was the verandah:?
Where's sausage? love stirring him up about "Building Designs"?
Everyone else simply copies Franky

fair point gestie - i did a tour of rose siedler house some years ago and was blown away - made we want to go to see FLW work in the flesh
sausage i think has been to falling water.
lucky bugger.
yes we have taken over the tasmanian forum as the taswegians don't seem to want it!
choco is a tough nut to crack! i know he is not into a well proportioned box, i am wondering if he might prefer a form with a more appealing entry statement. maybe a nice backdoor
hmmmm,,,,,,,
i have just been sent a sketch of a project in the works which has me a little excited...........
long live modernism!!!
