I went down to the Lake to have a sail after work this arvo and didnt even bother to stop!
There is so much weed visible on the surface that it is virtually unsailable.
I will have to look for another spot to sail in the southerlies

What about Swan Bay? or the other side of Corio Bay, Avalon? Just looking on Google Earth, is there anything wrong with those?

Otherwise Aaron at Stonkers reckons theres a few spots around 13th Beach that flatten out, if you're like me, and prefer it a little flat!

I have yet to try Swan Bay. Map looks good but not sure of depths. I may have a look this weekend as I have to head down the coast anyway on Saturday.
Avalon is a little too far for me to go after work. Connewarre was on the way home so it was good. If Swan Bay doesnt pan out I will just sail Pt Henry.

Had a look at the lake yesterday and it has improved substantially. It was a mega low tide and the was only small (compared to picture) patches of weed. A few more good southerlies might clean it up for summer?

I'm yet to sail the lake, but Im planning to give it a bash in the next few weeks.

Whats the depth like? is it generally pretty shallow (1metre or so) and are booties needed for broken glass etc?

Also can you recommend a good place to launch and sail?

Many Thanks

The Lake is probably only a couple of metres in the deepest sections. Where we generally sail, you are looking at around the 1 - 1.4m deep.

I generally wear boots just in case. So do all the other guys that normally sail there.

We generally launch from the end of Brinsmead Lane. Drive to the very end and down the hill and there is a grassy rigging area.

The Lake sails well on a southerly, so if its blowing from the south you will probably see some of us there.
