Up at Lysterfield having a BBQ on Cup day and wanted to share a few pics from the pottering around - just nice to be on the water.... not much wind, but still some fun :P

A really good spot to take learners - perhaps a good spot for summer Promos?

Yep - Lysterfield is 20 mins from home and there are a few diehard sailors/windsurfers that go there quite regularily. It boasts a Yacht club, small dinghies and cats(no club house)and when rigging on the grassed area when it is quiet you do need to watch out for the odd kangaroo/wallaby. Gets bloody cold in winter( I believe Drift has a classic story about sailing there in winter) with water temp a good 2 degrees below the bay. Fantastic on a dead northerly as the wind funnels down the lake and you get to sail across and back probably 400 mtrs one way. Wild ride as you get about 10 mtrs to get settled as you pass the spit and then the gust hit you full on. Can be a little frustrating for beginners as I have almost passed another windsurfer on opposite tacks but on the same side of the board The wind does seem to blow from different directions at once. Gets a bit swirly at times. Summer time can get a bit crowded. I can remember teaching my son there one day in the no swim zone(not there anymore) and he dropped the mast on a guys head. Good place to wash your gear after an intense salt bath

I have seen a 150mm chop on a 25 kt day and it will get a rolling wave about the same size also

Hmmm ... strong northerly winds on Sunday morning and early afternoon, before the change.

Anybody interested in washing their sails in freshwater at Lysterfield on Sunday?
