Round one of the Victorian Wavesailing Series is ON tomorrow Sat 10/09/11
Forecast is for SW 20-30 knots and swell should be around half mast high in Cat Bay.
Location: Right Point, Cat Bay
Briefing will be at 9:00 am
We will aim to make a start early while the tide is high, as soon as there is enough wind and there are no surfers in the water we will start the expression sessions.
If the wind doesn't get above 20 knots we will not send people out in a competition. Please note we will run both amateur and expert divisions however Right Point is certainly not for beginners, conditions will suit intermediate to advanced sailors only. There will be no beginner clinic at this round.
Right Point is a surfers break, and we need to be very careful not to run heats while there are lots of surfers in the water, which won't be a problem in +20 knots
Right Point is true down the line wave sailing, and when it's on it provides some of the best wavesailing available.
Please check the location guide on the website for more details on how to get there:www.vicwavesailing.org/locations/right-point-cat-bay-phillip-island
Any additional info please contact us via email: admin@vicwavesailing.org
Please not all competitors must be a paid up member of Windsurfing Victoria:http://www.wv.org.au/index.php?option=com_pmform&view=form&Itemid=76
Or call any of the following: Alastair 0439 543 741, Joel 0407 546 730 or James 0422 905 897
See you there

This should be really fun - Cat Bay is my favourite wavesailing spot in Vic.
The wave itself is really cleanly defined surrounded by deep channels upwind and downwind of the reef making getting out is amazingly easy. You basically never have to sail over any breaking waves.
Some pics for those who don't know what to expect.
The setup - reef break that peels along the reef - no closeouts and easy to position yourself.
This is the typical size - tomorrow should be similar.
About as big as it gets at Cat Bay - the usual size is around half mast high with slightly bigger sets.
More photos from a session earlier in the year - conditions should be similar tomorrow.

For anyone who has wavesailed at Sandy Point you can handle sailing at Cat Bay - it is easy to stick to shoulder of the wave and cruise around out of any trouble until you build your confidence up.
Hopefully see you all there!
I agree with Al about Catbay! The nice thing is you don't get a pounding trying to get out and you can stay on the shoulder if you want to take it easy.
