Ok, it's pretty much not going to be windy reliably till June...
What is everyone doing in the meantime to prepare for winter? Running, biking, eating red meat, going to the gym?
Going to Darwin (in less than an hour) to catch me a barra or two. And to be happy not to be in the water with the local residents.
chaseing girls all around the city and eating donuts while playing some no wind blues with my trusty accoustic guitar
pfft...
Maui? You're dreaming mate!
Getting paid to teach windsurfing, seems pretty good to me...
Besides (quote) "i'm trying to bring freestyle to the waves"
Plenty of stuff to do. Surfing is priority #1 followed by garage time - finish off my remote control catamaran + build another surfboard.
totally agree though - "the crap months"
I hate surfing windymiller its like watching grass grow to me. rather spend me time chasen women around
Build a bigger shed for all the gear I dream about buying during autumn, then go and fill it up with all the gear that's about to be a season older and cheaper after winter, (hopefully).
Y i bought an 8.5m to bridge the gap but i still think its not enough, and with this Shark.....
I try to save cycling for communting so not at the weekend
(unless its Lysterfield Park for MTB! Did that last autumn)
I've just found the ELWOOD SKATE(BOARD)BOWLS in Elsternwick Park ! and recommend you all get down here of an evening /weekend and drive the feral kids
off. For me it beats any other cross training on offer. This time (15 years on!) I'm bypassing all that flippy, slidey, grindy stuff and staying with pure carving, pumping, etc.
I was pleasantly suprised at the relearning payoff.
I also want to try SUP down at Torquay (25 per hour with a suit! bargain!). I did it on the flat bay but it was dull as dishwater, my bro did it in Torquay when he was over on hols recently so I'm sure I'll manage.
Oh and if it snows cross-country skiing at Lake Mountain
Have faith gentlemen, these shots were taken April 2008.
Autumn can have her viscious moods as well!
Don't pack away the pole gear just yet.
Oh, by the way, the sail is a 3.3m, rigged to the max to withstand the 62 knot gusts recorded at Fawkner Beacon on the "Day".
Bring on winter!!
Hey post it on the main forums, show the dudes what winds vic can have that second pic is unreal mate
seeing as its a crap season.. i am prepared to put the challenge to the wind to show up the prediction... come on wind we can take it. I'm getting a little exited at thought.
Forecast for Sunday
Winds: Westerly 5 to 10 knots increasing to 15 to 20 knots during late morning
before tending southwesterly 20 to 30 knots during the afternoon. Seas: Below
0.5 metres increasing to 0.5 to 1.5 metres during the afternoon.
Oh cheers for that H2O, , BOM must have smelt the apprehension in the air as the new forecast is... West to southwesterly 5 to 10 knots increasing to 15 to 20 knots during
the morning then tending south to southwesterly in the afternoon at a similar
strength. Winds then easing to 10 to 15 knots during the evening.
If it gets any worse Ginger pom will be posting in yet another moan
you dont have to wait till june for wind, the best wind most of the time comes at the end of autumn wich is May. we somtimes get 2 weeks of gales non stop, but this year so far is looking like a crappy year for wind tho.
But any one that is really keen for wind head over to tassie, that place is the most windy place, i have ever been too.. i was over there one spring, and the wind blew day after day 20+ knots non stop, and it was sunny every day..
Its not looking good for wind at the moment, but fingers crossed for the upcoming weeks! I'm going to Thailand in July any recommendations where to sail over there?
