Curious to know what most people use all the time.... contemplating a 6.4-6.6m sail purchase...... for a 105 board.

At the moment I seem to be using my 124 ltr board with a 7m sail most of the time....... (looking over the long historical term)....

So thinking a 105 board with a 6.4 - 6.6 sail might be the best sweet spot for 16 - 25 knots of wind..... on the bay.

So what's your common mix? fave?

Cheers advanced

This season, RRD FSW 96 and 6.4 KA Kult no1 , no2 would be my custom slalom Cheeky Monkey 236 x 70 X 112 litres and 7.9 KA Race. My 5.3 KA Killer has been getting used a bit the last month.
I am 90 Kg.

Depending on your weight, I assume you are average weight???, a 95-105 litre FSW board with a 6.5 will get used lots on the bay.

Thanks Martin. It's a 105 FSW board. I weight 85 kg on a good day. Do you notice much difference between a 6.4 nad 6.6? Thinking of the 6.4 Kult.....

Well I can only compare the 3 I use, 6.4 Kult vs 6.6 Koyote vs 6.6 Koncept.

If it,s bump and jump type sailing on a FSW board forget the Koncept.

I like the 6.4 Kult on this type of board. I have been a big fan of the Koyote for bump and jump in the past, great sail, but am now using Kults for this type of sailing as they are lighter and just easier to throw around. If you are just straight line blast then gybe type sailing Koyote is perfect, but if you want to try a bit of tricky stuff then I would reccommend the Kult.
Low end power between the 2 is comparable, Kult maybe a bit easier to pump. Koyote has better top end due to 7 battens and better stability.

Can grab mine any time to try, 6.6 Koyote as well.

My most used rig and board for the bay seabreeze's is my Futura111 & 7m freeride sail. I'm 82kg. Comfortable up to around 20 knots and then the board starts feeling a bit big. I'd prefer to be on my 94 litre fsw board and 5.8m sail in 16+ knots but I'm always too lazy to come in and rig down, limited time and all.

Wish I had thrown my smaller board and sails in the van on Sunday though!

In one of those funny moods today and just went ahead since I thought it was a good deal.

My 105 FSW will soon have a brand spanker red (should go faster) 2009 KA Kult 6.4 to fly with

I seem to always make purchases on Mondays......need to pick up from the KA factory.

I think this size will be good for me because I usually need a bit more sail than most.... this could be to my sailing inefficiencies, but oh well.... in time

Thanks for the offer Martin.

For most of the summer seabreeze's Ive been using a 5.8 wave sail on 96 fsw board or 6.2 no cam race sail on 100 L freeride/slalom. I way about 78 kg.
Also there's a bit of a difference depending what part of the bay you sail as far as the seabreeze strength goes.

weight 78kgs 95 FSW and 5.4 or 5.7 most of the time perfect for seabreezes and I go down to an 80L board when it's blasting. smaller sails as required, havent used my big gear at all this summer.

Yeah I'd agree with that. 6.5/95 litre was my most used in 2011

I've logged all my session over the last 12 years

2000-2003 mostly the bay
2004-2007 SE Qld
2008-2011 back on the bay

<5.2 = wave 75 litres
5.5-6.5 = slalom 95 litres
8.5 = raceboard

nerd....

Though I spent ages looking at it....and analysing it. And wishing that I'd done the same....

My most used combo is 90litre synchro and 5m/5.4m. I weigh 87kg. I could be described as a wind snob.

6.6m, 99L Carve, 38cm fin
I think a board a tiny bit bigger would have much better marginal wind range
(and uphaul!) so I decided to lose some weight instead !

88kg at xmas down to 81kg now

Could be??

I get a lot of mileage out of 106 SuperX and 5.8 (87 kg)

can plane in 16+ knots and once it gets closer to 23 knots usually switch to a 84 FSW

love the graph
