I'm thinking of heading along cos I'm on the way back from geraldton that weekend. I'm not planning to enter (my sailing standard leaves a bit too much to be desired). Is the spot big enough to hold a few free sailors while the comp is going on or will I find my tires being let down?

cheers

If you reckon you can do a few backies then youre more than capable of going in the open div. You can still come up against some good sailors but you dont have to worry about coming up against someone like Jaeger or Scott in your first heat.
If its a good day there will be some really good sailing to watch. Theres going to be a few guys pushing each other in the open this year, should be good.
There is plenty of flat water to sail while the comp is on but you probably will get your tyres let down if you sail through the break while its all happening. Not sure of any other breaks near by. I would probably get my tyres let down if I told you anyway.
Bring it on. It's gonna go off.

SYNOPTIC ANALYSIS
SYNOPTIC SITUATION:
A deep surface trough lies just inland from the west coast with a mid level
disturbance approaching from the west. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are
expected to develop in the Central Wheatbelt, Great Southern, Southwest, South
Coastal and Lower West Districts during the late afternoon and evening. Seasonal
thunderstorms are occurring in the northeast of the state.
On Thursday the mid level disturbance and surface trough will cause isolated
showers and storms through all parts of the Division with the exception of
northern parts of the Central West as well as in the Southern Goldfields and
Eucla. In the SW Land Division the shower and storm activity should contract to
the Southwest, southern Great Southern, South and Southeast Coastal Districts
during the afternoon but tend scattered near the south coast west of Bremer Bay.
A low forming off the west coast should produce a westerly flow over the Lower
West and Central West with isolated showers.
A cloud band, emanating from Tropical Cyclone Anika, is expected to extend
across the northwest coast and cause patchy rain and thunderstorms to develop in
the west of the Pilbara and the northwest of the Gascoyne. Thunderstorms are
again likely in the Kimberley and adjacent Interior on Thursday and through the
outlook period.

PROGNOSIS

FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS:
The westerly flow persists on Friday, so expect isolated showers in the Lower
West and Central West. A ridge will develop to the south of the state and direct
a southeast flow over southern parts and with the mid level disturbance should
result in scattered showers and isolated storms in southern parts of the
Southwest District and western parts of the South Coastal District. Isolated
showers are expected in remaining parts with the exception of the northeast
Central Wheatbelt and inland Central West. Isolated showers can also be expected
in the far south of the Goldfields and Eucla. Expect the cloud band over the
northwest to thicken with areas of rain and isolated thunderstorms through the
west and central parts of the Pilbara, the north of the Gascoyne, north of the
Goldfields and Interior. There may be local heavy falls in the north of the
Gascoyne and adjacent Pilbara.
On Saturday the westerly flow will maintain isolated showers in the Central
West. Isolated showers and storms are expected in remaining parts, tending
scattered in the Lower West, Southwest, Great Southern and South Coastal
Districts. Isolated showers may reach the west of the Goldfields. The cloud band
extending across the northwest coast through the centre of the state to the
Interior should continue to cause rain areas and thunderstorms with some
possible heavy falls.
On Sunday the mid level disturbance and a surface low should result in scattered
showers and storms in the South and Southeast Coastal Districts as well as
adjacent parts of the Great Southern and Southwest Districts. Isolated showers
are expected in remaining parts SW parts. The cloud band should persist over
much of the Pilbara, northeast Gascoyne, Northern Goldfields and Interior.
