Using only basic surfing equipment (2 helicopters, 90 ft trawler and half a dozen jet skis but no "meat trucks")Mr Carroll and Mr Clarke Jones have pioneered a new spot on the map of Tassi. Photos of their adventure made the front page of The Mercury (themercury.com.au) and are to be screened on Sixty Minutes this Sunday night. To have your own secret spot receive international exposure please contact the program.
Unlike "shipsterns" this spot is probably very sailable as it is a very very windy location. The remoteness, cold water and need for a 90 foot boat will probably keep the crowds small.
Yes it would go cross off. I don't know 100% what the perfect wind direction is yet but as I understand it the wave breaks heading N. W to NW would be cross off. That means the prevailing winter winds would combine perfectly with the big swells.
This is just word of mouth so don't take it as gospel. I need to get back to Tassie to talk to some people about it.
stehsegler could drive the ski and wind warrior Kev could sail it.
You guys are full of it if you think your sailing there.
No I am not in disguise...... I love it when people tell me I can't do stuff - Keep it coming! Its gonna be all that much sweeter when I post photos of the Tas crew dropin in on it!
those waves are epic!!!!!!!
can't wiat until I am down in tassie for 4 years at uni! there are so many cool places to go windsurfing!!
James
That wave is ridiculous!!!!
That's the kind of spot you don't need to keep secret, cos Polakow and Pottssy are probably the only 2 people in the world who would be loony enough to sail it!
I mean that with all due respect...
Secret spot my arse. I told tc and rcj about it. I've been sailing there since the 60's. It's only about 6 hours from shore. I sailed out there by myself and was cutting sick way before the safety of jetski's and boats. The first day I sailed it it was a least double as big as those photo's and I wasn't shoulder hopping like those girls.
Hey John
when we sat down yesterday and were talking about what it would take to sail this place, I hadnt seen these photos yet!!!
Ahhhh yeah it is PRETTY big!! hahaha
