yeah it's nice doing it all in no wind... but looking at the size I would say Gnaraloo has a better wave most days in September/ October.

This was a small day for Teahupoo afterall...
... would have been good to see them do this when it's really big.

It really isn't the same as when it is surfed. I wouldn't try to use that to impress a surfer. The footage from the last JP movie was a lot better. That was a bunch of shoulder hopping backdoor euro trash. The last wave was pretty big though.

And Laird in that photo could be at least another 5 metres deeper. Shoulder hopper

thing with the guys at work is that they recon windsurfers aren't up to waves like teahupoo...... this vid shows that's not the case.

i'd like to see them do it at low tide. wave would be a whole lot chunkier....

can you let me know which JP vid?

The JP movie was "About time" - he sails and tows in - and eats s**t big time.

Check the pictures from SA's west coast - the Fantastic noodles junior pro - could be the next big wave windsurfing challenge.

It might be the only place they will ever get tubed (which they're not).

That said I've never seen anyone hit the lip like Polakow at Teahupooooo!!!

I believe there is sequence in Rip It where Robby Naish get's very deep into the pocket. If not in the video I have certainly seen him in a photo in a windsurf mag.

As far as getting in the pocket in Gnaraloo... I believe it... I tried that last season... sadly I got sucked over the falls.

Here a shot from that week:

No, that's not me... and yes he did make it... got the whole sequence to proof it.

found this on the web. feeling sick just looking at it. I bet you could also ride the suck down from the reef for about 5 meters before you get munched:

From what I hear I think Baptiste Gossein (the french dude in the windsurfing movie) bust his back on the reef there while surfing a few days ago. Big wave, big consequences. All the best to the bloke

Thanks Al - That has to be some of the best wipe out footage I have ever seen, and not to mention some of the best wave riding.

I met A bloke in SA in july from Cactus, he was telling me how he saw sunny or paul gravelle get fully barrelled at castles and then get shot out with by the wind in the barrell propelling him out like he was doing an aerial, he landed and kept sailing.

A solid surfer who had no idea you couldn't do that at will, so i believed him.

Wow, I went to Cactus with a bunch of Gero/pom guys probably 21 years ago now. Is sunny still living in that place with the stubbie wall? and he is still charging by the sound of it. he is a character. We went in Don Diegos van which **** itself and traumatised us poor euros but we did have a memorable trip. It was good to get back to WA with some decent wind I remember
