After all the hullaballoo (hope I spelled it right) about the filming of the race.
Has there been any more film posted apart from the brief snippets on beach tele and boardseeker from the official photographer
I asked the same question a little while back...
www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=62002
and heard nothing.
I'd be keen to watch the tv production that was meant to be produced?
Been seeing loads of Lano shots in all the windsurfing mags - quite a write up in UK Windsurf. Also saw a double page spread in the US mag.
Check em out.
But the big question is where are ALL the photos.
Has anyone seen the VIDEO?
I seem to recall that the LOC promised that all the pics from the event would be put up on the website. They are not.
$80k for a mega video, multimedia extravaganza. No evidence of it.
I'm sure that Reflex will post saying it's all ready to go, but if so, where's the trailer for it?
its great to see all the anticipation for this production
i too cant wait to see it.
As mentioned before - production to this level takes time - and production companies - especially big ones - have schedules of multiple events to shoot and edit.
International broadcast (to a massive audience) is the first cab off the rank
that gets the amazing images of WA delivered worldwide to the type of audience that may end up travelling here - and spending money - and thus justify the government spend on the project.
Obviously these guys dont want to get scooped by an internet video - which is traditionally the last cab off the rank.
(start debate here about internet video vs free to air vs audience / quality / timing / budget/ downloading/ youtube sucks/youtube is great/vimeo/ time limits/commercial use of these sites - free internet video doesnt pay anyones bills etc etc)
We'll get a show sometime soon- it really depends when the appropriate channel wants to run
the show - it will probably be a saturday or sunday morning show. That will come down to programming and purchase decisions by local channels - who will rank the event audience potential somewhere beneath AFL football (go the dockers!)
Magazines will run articles and photos - as usual there is a lag - as mags arent real time. These should be out soon. I know quite a few international mags are running stories
so in other words we more than likely won't see it in australia unless we are a cable subscriber. i really hope channel one air it.
it may be an early call but it's dissapointing.
the question is whether the loc management paid for the copyright as part of their deal or at least conditioned some form of clause allowing them to release it after a certain date.
it doesn't sound like it.
oh, and p.s. i'd like to buy a copy of wizards also.....
Typical Germans they called us all Spas's with something about fur in cracks
I would still suggest with all that really good video (and the big effort / costs put in to get it) that the LOC need to get it on Sports Tonight and similar within a couple of days That goes a long way toward sponsoship $$$$$$$.
A video that only windsurfers see a few months later is wonderful but it is not promoting the sport - as the sponsors logos etc are only seen by a couple of thousand people not 200,000
That's a good little video. I hadn't seen it before, where did it come from?
I hope the final video has a section somewhere for all the inelegant dismounts at the finish. They were hilarious to watch, and definitely one of the memorable parts of the whole event.
I'm keen to go again. Does anyone know the dates for next years LOC?
2011 LOC Friday 7th- Sunday 9th January 2011
see you on the start line Anita?
I think I will buy a formula board for the event- so I ride in the rescue boat......again!!
ps. great video, i am just out of shot but- well done "Nebs- media magnet", WWA party and now this....
it is almost a year away ....and i think of it often and am wearing the shirt right now....come on anita- what could possibly go wrong ?
So... basically... every other country gets to see a fantastic event - except for the actual people that were in the race...?!
