Hello locals,
I'm an Italian student, i arrived in Perth 2 months ago.
Now, that I have finished english school, I have found a house, I have the money to buy a car and some windsurfing stuff! iT's my bug!!!
I choose Perth because I want start to learn to ride the waves. In Italy it's very difficult find the right conditions.
someone told me that the season are going to finish, is it true? but for the wind or for the wave?
Sincerely I hope that it's no true.. but what is the truth??
Could someone recommend me any easy place to start the bases of wave near perth?
Which the right board? I'm 85 kg. I thought a freestyle-wave with about 95-105 liters..Is it ok? is there anyone who sell a fsw?? and wich size of sail?
Thank you very much in advance!!
and sorry if my english isn't perfect!
:)
It's true the season is nearly over, but there is probably a month of good wind left, and its not uncommon to get the odd good seabreeze in April.
Hey Sixchic (lucky you didint misspell that) welcome to Perth.
In case you are feeling a little home sick
4 the moment i don't feel the home sick... anyway thank'you..
Thank you Underoath for your invitation, but at the moment my bug is windsurfing, and for the moment i don't chance....
Thankyou Filthy for your answer, so unfortunately it's true..
Ok, i think that i will buy the stuff in any case..
If enjoy for 2 months it's better than spent 2000 $$.
We leave only once, don't we?
could you recommend me any good spots for a wave beginner?
the summer season can go to april, the wind is less but the waves can get better.
for this 100litre board sounds about right and a 5.5m sail
Winter season can start late may early june, conditions not as good, strong blustery onshore winds, and big swell, but there are places where a good sailor can enjoy fun smaller waves. but smaller gear would be better, 85litres and a 4.5
For learning waves, try Dutch Inn, it is about 1km south of Cottesloe swimming beach, at the park / playground on Marine Parade, near Princess St
Needs 1.5m+ swell though, and there are rocks on the inside so ask somebody before you go out.
Otherwise maybe Leighton beach on a small day like 1m swell.
Both of them need a SSW or SW seabreeze
Once winter starts properly and you need a 4.0 , there are some good spots that are onshore and not really for riding waves but good jumping and rough water practice
