Down my way there were heaps out in the waves, and a good crew on the flat, we are bloody spoilt here in WA

I met up with the crew for a wave sesh, went to rig up and...

No deck plate.

Had to content myself with watching Greenroom slash some lovely faces

There's always tomorrow.

You know what you have to do now, don't you Nebs?

Get one for each board.

either that or take them of after each session

That a Chinook thingy one, that bolts (2 bolts) on and you snap the mast base into it, and dont take it off?
If so, I got one I found last year, yours if you need it.
And yep Hardie, we do get spoilt

I was out and had a tremendous time..... I was the fastest me on the water and that is what I am out there for!
hit the water just after 7 and had a great time, looked patchy initially but it filled in and was great.

Yep I bought another one today, those deck plates are not coming off now, one per board is the way to go I think.

Well done on the PB's Evets

Ah Nebs, spew you couldnt join us. It sucked seeing you standing on the beach. Yes there is always tomorrow but there is also a whole season in front of us.
Now that you live around the corner from Miller, Leech, Rider, Gazza and I you will have no excuses to slash some waves yourself.
Cant wait

After my 6.15 am wake up call....thanks, got on the water with Greenroom, Gazza, Leech and Windy. but I just couldn't get dialled in, way to early in the morning! I'm not a morning person. Some little fecker got into my car and went through my clothes ha ha left my wallet at home and he didn't find my mobile nothing taken, but the kitesurfers car next to mine had his window broken. Finished there(Leighton) about 10 ish and then went to dutchies until 12 not a bad morning

nebs, ditch the deck plate and get a chinhook 'chunky' rubber uj...screw and bolt..... heaps better for quick adjustments...and safer,,, the pin connection system on the deckplates are too unreliable, they wear out and can pop out and sink, whilst sailing ,,, happend to me 5 times,, once out the back at lano

so far so good, wit the new ones.

next time, u break or forget something just ask one of us for a spare, i had one in my car u coulda used..

Hey Windy,
Which part are you referring to?

I've got this model here...

Is it the connection from the UJ to the mast base that you reckon is suss?

I think he is referring to the clip that secures the UJ to the deckplate. I have also had trouble with this style.... a few long swims with board in one hand and rig in the other has left me looking for a better option.

yep, that little plastic clip on the deck plate that stops the metal U pin from slidinding back out...

it wears out / losens up, then all it takes is for you to tap it with your toe when gybing or wave riding / carrying to beach etc to unatatch the clip.....

Eventually the uj will pop out of the deckplate, normally way out the back after your first jump or gybe

the first few times it happened to me i rolled my gear up and swam in, been rescued by a cray fisherman THEN i realised you can turn the board on its side, put the uj back in the hole, waterstart and sail away (without any pin if it has sunk, sometimes they just stay on if you are very lucky).... the secret to sailing back with out the pin isto keep the rig upright with lots of mast foot pressure...

buy a screw in one though and you wont have to worry about the above

its a real pain in the arse to connect uj to deckplate, especially in choppy water

Thanks for the reply mate.

Good info...especially as I was about to invest in a couple more deck plates so that I don't have to swap them over when I change boards. Sounds like screw in is the go.
