Got the letter from the council after sending in my concerns about windsurfers/kite surfers exclusion zone. (see www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/Western-Australia/Scarbrough-Beach-Mgnt-Plans/?SearchTerms=scarborough )
Our comments will be referred to a committee meeting on Tuesday 30 November 2010, 5pm in the Parmelia Room, City of Stirling Civic and Administration centre, Cedric Street, Stirling.
Should anyone wish to address the committee, you will need to register your interest prior to the commencement of the meeting.
for enquiries contact Sid Moodley 9345 8555 (from City of Stirling)
So, its going to be addressed by a decision maker, but someone standing up on the night would be great for our cause.
Will you please stand up and represent us?
Toby. I received the letter too for WWA but it appears they will limit speakers to two. One for and one against.
WTF is the point of that?
with hundreds of kiters, windsurfers, surfers etc in Perth they will allow 2 speakers. Very big of them.
Government 101 - give the illusion of public consultation and then do what you were always going to do in the first place (which nowadays means pandering to the vocal minority and / or whoever gave you lots of money at election time)
Just trying to make contact with the council to see what this all means and what options we have.
162 submissions on the report were included in the revised plan. see here: http://www.stirling.wa.gov.au/Home/Development/Projects/Scarborough+Beach+Urban+Design+Master+Plan.htm
The council make recommendations based on public submissions and councillors make decisions based on officer recommendations.
There has been several changes made to the plan and due to negotiations on the location of the bus station they will not adopt the plan at this meeting.
Anyone may attend the meeting and request to ask questions.
The chair person decides who speaks for and against.
The main issue for us is at page 35 section 2 volume 1 "Encouraging kite and wind surfers to use northern beach"
IMHO The council may adopt policy to fine surfers/kite surfers/windsurfers not using various areas as designated. I think common sense may prevail with the policing/fines/times of use of this "northern beaches" concept as our forum discussion suggested.
I cant attend the meeting but can WWA make a showing?
