I hope the reason you were not at your local today was because you were scoring Lano or some other acceptable excuse. I had all this to myself!

Wasnt that heavy really - thanks to some nice progressive banks. Should have put the 6.2 up though

You must have left just as I arrived. 5.7m was perfect.

I can't remember having such good swell at scarbs without endless closeouts. Finally a chance for this mere mortal to ride some waves at his local without impending doom

Cut a hole in the seat of your wetsuit, Rider. Problem solved

Scarbs at its best, amazing how the banks can hold yesterday's massive swell

Glad you guys scored it!!!!

Leech grapevine says a couple went to Mandurah, others to Lano and Wedge but I hear swell a bit too big for those last 2 spots and 6 others went to Greenies fave a bit further north and scored big time

Word on the beach was that Greenie's fav was pumping mast high set waves with glassy perfection on the smaller sets. Long swell period.

Last time I went there it was head high and awesome. Imagine mast high

Yeah now that the highway is through it definitely shaves a couple of hours off the trip. Was good when my sister owned the road house coz we would get free food and fuel.
I surfed it a couple years ago and it was so crowded! Every time we sailed it, it was just us.
Now my favourate place to sail is 20 minutes away

I think mast hi is too big, a little overhead is nice there.... otherwise you are too scared to crash, lots of nasty stuff around

It was only mast out the back on the bombie 1/2 to 3/4 on the inside.
The bigger ones were the go take off really deep full speed run into a couple of the smoothest bottom top turns then try to remember to straighten out before hitting the reef section

It was mega high tide so there was heaps of water movement

Mark depending on swell direction it breaks a little further out proving a teensy bit more room to navigate the shallow stuff
You also need to stay high up on the wave in the sucky section and can then charge back for another 3 or 4 bottom turns... Even on a single fin !!!
Oh and the reef is really sharp on the way out but not as bad on the way in...

I have it on very good authority the 'other other' break was going off like a frog in a sock but I have probably said too much already and run the risk of being locked out of the house and then run out of town

no risk of the other spot ever being overrun. The distance to the beach combined with the number of sharks hanging in the channel waiting for bait will scare most people away.

BTW the reef on the spot is so shallow you won't even make it out on a quad... sadly speaking from experience.

im with you there Mark, but it depends if its your local it doesnt matter but in a beach break it gets a little sandy, good way to break stuff.

plus head high and a bit makes everything easier
