God help us if this gets the nod!! ref-'Post' news paper
As if having a shotover boat chucking aimless donuts all through Matilda bay wasnt enough!
Now some fwit wants to use the the Swan as a airport for
his plane!!!!!so he can fly tourists out to the abrolhos to stuff to fish the area!
Now i don't know how much water this needs to take off in but i do recall
hearing ww2 catalinas needed the entire river from south Perth to Pt Walter
to get airborne.
i Hope common sense prevails..
Surely they (the swan river trust) will see all the reasons it won't work. There's no such thing as a quiet corner of the river where he can take off/cordone off for a runway.
I can't see the problem or the big deal, there is plenty of room in Perth Water to take-off and land without affecting other water users. Who sails or kites in there anyway? and by the time it gets up and over Kings Park and then onto the Western Suburbs its going to be flying the same altitude as every other small aircraft passing through there.
Whinging for the sake of whinging if you ask me.
They use to land these things on Mandurah Estuary and I can remember a 4 seater water plane that use to land at Bull Creek many many years ago.
If it takes off early morning around Como it would only knock over a few rowers and crabbers.
Last time I went to the Abrolos Islands for a fish. It was a 5 hour drive followed by a 4 hour boat ride. I then fished for about 6 hours then headed home for the 4 hour boat ride.
Caught lots of fish and the diving was magnificent.
80 minute flight is very appealing and then fish. Bring home your catch and fresh Baldchin gropher for tea.
I wonder how much it would cost????
I do see a problem with closing off sections of the river for landing and take off.
its crazy but just as crazy as a bridge from Wally world to Dalkieth proposed by the RAC.http://au.news.yahoo.com/local/wa/a/-/local/15824247/push-for-another-swan-bridge/
One proposed crossing was from Stock Road, Bicton to Dalkeith ? an idea floated in the 1950s.
It would allow motorists to go north-south without adding congestion to the city centre.
I have also seen a drawing of a bridge (cant find it quick enough) - Canning Hwy to UWA- good bye Peli point.....
