Blown away by how good the new Fanatic Aero Free 1000 went on my 1st go on it today. If you are looking for a new foil then for sure you should give this a try. Super solid and light on the carbon te mast. Little vid with my thoughts and some riding here

Have you foiled on the previous Fanatic Aero foils? Can you compare?

Nothing like the previous. The high aspect is good for straight line that's about it. The new range of Aero Free & Carve are next level

You've tried the Carve too? You're my new best friend! Which would you recommend for wind-swell (inside the SF bay) riding. Want jibe forgiveness and floatiness but not particularly worried about speed. (83 kg)

Thanks much!

P.S. I agree about the normal Aeros. Good for a straight line.

For me I'm going to use the Aero free for riding waves up to head high and when it's bigger use the Carve. That's the plan so far but might change once get to try the Free 800

Have a couple sessions on the Aero Free 1000/216 wingset with the 90cm/680mm carbon mast fuse combo.

Feels pretty lifty for 1000cm2, and I was having some trouble keeping it down when trying to push for speed... perhaps need to tweak my mast position or get used to a liftier foil... or neg shim the tail. I'm coming from SAB W1000/W400. Speed is good... about a knot or two slower than the W1000 but harder to control on the top end. The mast is also a little shorter than I am used to, so the combination of those two factors resulted in some dramatic overfoils. I think perhaps the Aero Free 800 might have a more comparable range to the W1000. Turns were really fun... feel I can really drive the foil through the turns and accelerate and/or keep speed. Glide was good. Feels a bit like the SAB W940 but more stable and more power. No issues w/ tip breaches.

Carbon 90 mast is very stiff, and all the connections seem well thought out. M8 bolts for the fuselage to mast and front wing connections. Everything is heli-coiled.

Complaints: No slotted connection for the mast plate.... takes awhile to remove bolts fully and then screw them all the way back down especially with the foam padding between the plate and board. Will probably replace Torx fuselage to mast bolts with Allen bolts so I can use one common 5mm tool for baseplate and fuselage attachment. No issues with getting things tight enough w/ this design.

I had a lot of fun on this foil and will keep testing/tweaking and comparing to my trusty W1000.

best 10sec speed 21.2 knots

weight of complete assembled foil 3752g/8.25lbs

Sunset - Aero Free 1000 or Flow 1000?
I switched back to Allen bolts. The wrench they give you makes it real easy to keep hitting the mast when you tighten the bolts. Agree about removing the bolts every time too.

Yeah a knot or 2 slower but way way better on the wave
I've not had any issues over foiling but I am 90kg, used the Free 1250 few times now as well and also really good and super easy to do 360s and stuff. Riding it with 216 rear could go in 10knts with dlab 5.5. can't wait for the 800 to arrive

have a good 10-15 sessions on the Fanatic Aero Free 1000 now (w/ 90cm carbon mast and 68cm fuselage)

This is a very nice setup. Feels very surfy, and I really like the way I can drive the foil through the turns. I've had some amazing days on this foil already.

Speed is good... best 500m 21.2kn, 5sec ~23.1kn. feels pretty lifty when going past 20kn

Glide is good... riding swell and doing things like tacks and 360s there is plenty of glide

Turning: this is its best attribute... I feel like I can pump by turning and generate speed and make lines.... I like fading upwind off backside swells, and then banking a downwind turn onto the swell behind me... super fun.

compared to my normal SAB W1000/647/400, this foil feels more stable, easier to ride, but also less slippery. I would like to try a smaller stab, but they don't make one AFAIK. perhaps time for chop shop. the pumping w/ the 216 tail feels a little stiffer than I'm used to. Going to the SAB W1000 it's night and day.

The mast is super stiff and nice. I think a lot of people would like this setup if the USA distribution could get stock. Alas... I'm probably the only person on this continent with this setup. All mine :-D

Great info, thanks for thread. I've been on 1500 High aspect carbon fuse/mast for a while now and love it. Wanting to get aero free next. I'm 95kg and initially thought free 1250, but wondering if I should get 1000 instead. I'd say I'm intermediate level. Once up I suspect 1000 wins all day long, but how much extra effort to get on foil. Board is currently 120l, but getting 95l. wings are units 6.5/5.5/4 so plenty grunt there when needed. Cheers

Have 800, 1000, 1250 and use 800 and 1000 most of the time. 1000 goes very early for the size. Think the 1250 is very close to your 1500 (but faster). So if you keep the 1500 for the light wind days I would add the 1000 to the quiver.

I'd say if you make all your tacks and gybes get the 1000 if not get the 1250 as it's a super good foil and really easy to ride. I'm 93kg and the 1000 is my biggest foil

I currently ride the fanatic carve foils 1150/250 and 900/216 with alu mast 90 and 680 fuse. 80l KT Board, 83kg. especially the bigger foil feels quite slow in smaller waves/swell - I'm struggling to stay on the wave. for sure a lack of foiling skills, but I see friends with more high aspect foils keeping higher speed and better glide. Do you think the free would help in those conditions?

Yeah the Aero Free is way faster than the Carve and glides on less powerful waves. I like the carve 900 for good waves but everything else I'm on the Free 1000 or 800. The Carve 1150 just too slow for me and the Free 1000 gets going in same or lees wind. here I'm on the 1000 www.instagram.com/reel/CqQZSZnIXm3/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

thx leepasty. Sounds very promising. You say the free 1000 gets going in same or less wind than the carve 1150: That indicates, that I may choose the free 1000 as my biggest foil even for light winds (83kg, 80l Board, DLAB5,5), or do you think the free 1250 would extend my wind range significantly to lighter winds?
Additionally, there are new fanatic foils expected. The new 1150 (dont'n know whether that one replaces the free or is a different modell?) is rumored to be excellent ...

I'm 93kg with 1000 free biggest foil and 5.5 unit. Getting the Glide 1025 for summer. No replacement for the Free coming but they are working on new Carves but not due to be relaxed until September/October earliest. Guess once they have finished working on new Carve they will work on new Free, there's always something new coming so just buy what you want now. This is how I see the Fanatic range, for Glide get the Glide but they also turn great in small sizes, for Freestyle and big fast waves the Carve for bit of everything the Free which works amazing in weaker waves.

ps. Any rumours you've heard of the new 1150 must be from someone who's been to Mauritius ??

your comments are pushing me to the shop ;-)Haven't noticed the glide series before. To much choice! In which conditions do you expect better performance of the glide compared with the free? I will use my big foil mainly in flat water or choppy up to small-wave conditions like baltic sea ...Rumours - I met a guy at the beach who met a guy. That one has maybe enjoyed Manawa and one eye ;-)I guess you are better and more reliable informed.

Yes the Colab mast is a lot better. my glides are arriving tomorrow and good wind forecast will have comparison video review of the Glide 725 & 925 compared to the Free 800 & 1000 up on Monday

I also ordered those sizes in the Aero Glide wing sets. Rode the Aero Free 800 on the 60cm fuse the other day... better glide than I was expecting. Felt really good. Top speed was a bit under what I get with the 1000, but I am out of shape, out of practice, and not so tuned up right now. Could also be tide/current affected, but more reasonable to blame the user. 10sec max 21.6kn

Of course the waterspeed.app malfunctioned the day I took out the Aero Carve 900
