Hey Simon,
I can picture it! Thats such a typical mad dave moment. The guy has so much energy and enthusiasm that he seems to skip over unnecessary stuff like safety and caution.
LOL
Here's another.
Back in 2000 at the Schick kitesurfing championships in Palm Beach Sydney, Dave was heading out on a mutant and a 15.5, AR5 Naish. Dave's heading at break neck speed towards about a 6 foot face around 3 feet thick. The entire audience, (several hundered people) and the commentator all watch dave as he speeds towards the green monster, then we realise he hasn't got enough room to boost over it and women and children start screaming in fear!

A nano second before impact, Dave hunkers down into a crouch and hits the now pitching over vertical wall full force with a slap that takes the wind out of all who observe it let alone Dave himself. We and the entire audience in unison cry OooooH!, then Dave pops out of the back of the wave barely losing any speed and continues as if nothing has happened.
It would have been like hitting a concrete wall at 40 kph.
It was so funny Good winds and bring on more mad dave stories, everyone who has met him has one.
Good winds,
