I would like to have immediate feedback on roughly how fast Im going when I am going, rather than finding out later once back on dry land. I cant find any solution. I appreciate a small joggers gps watch on the wrist is unreadable but something large like the starter watches or the pads the bikers have with speed dials that could strap onto front forearm ?? appreciate any suggestions for such a gadget.
How handy are you?? It's not that hard to build your own, Great big letters, easy to read while sailing.
Have a look through this thread.

Thanks, blimey thats all a bit high tech - was just looking for an easy read speed-dial like thing that tells me how close to 30 kts Im getting etc in the heat of the action to add to the speed thrill.
Try a Garmin Forerunner 255 and load it with TB Wonders GPS windsurfing data field. It will give you real time feedback for all the GPS Team Challenge disciplines
+1 for the 255, but you don't need anybody's GPS windsurfing data field. Instead, just set up your own. Easy to do. You can then read your speed in large numbers, easy to read on the water. I also have a page with distance, max speed, and time of day, all easy to read on the water.

Yep. I have the Forerunner 255 and the GPSTC app, you can configure the app to show just one data field. You then get to see the speed (or anything else you want) in decent size numbers.
