Less than a week away from the start of the Paris Olympics Sailing. Can we get a hype thread going for Grae Morris?!
First Mens windsurfer to make an Olympic team for Australia in 20 years (and 2 whole classes ago)!! Lars Kleppich was the last one back in 2004.

"Any one who is not going to stay up late and watch this, is a bum!". - Bob Hawke, probably.
Cool, i was wondering who was gonna be racing for us in the olympics coz im really only gonna be watching for the IQ Foil races.
Here's the schedule with AEST times to watch. Should be typically around 10pm - 4am you'll wanna be up. Call your boss and tell him you're sick.
Channel 9 and Stan have it - www.australiansailingteam.com.au/olympics/how-to-watch/

You've just answered all my questions that I was about to ask!
Thanks Sean!
The Morris family have been huge supporters and workers for windsurfing in Australia, and making the Games is a huge achievement and recognition of all they have done. Good luck Grae!

Yes, Australian Sailing info says Arthur Brett.
How come A.S. does not have a woman competing in iQ Foil ??
Thanks. I only saw a quick long shot but it didn't look like Arthur. Damn him, he must have aged quite well, I'm jealous.

Our top sailor is ranked 53 in the world, so Australia probably didn't get a position and even if we did, the rankings were not high enough to send anyone under the Australian Sailing policies. That's not a criticism of our IQ Foil women - it's a really tough game.
I woke up kinda early and saw that it got delayed, then totally cancelled. It was a bit of an odd time to observe as it was supposed to start at 6:30am local time here. Nowhere around here would cover it that early. Last night there was a lot of coverage at a local bar of the Olympics on TV but man, that's too bad. I might just watch the livestream while working tomorrow morning.
Not even enough wind for foiling? How much do they need for the event?
at least 5-8 knots steady breeze for slalom i'd say.
More than enough to race Lt's
Noooooooo!!!!! Don't give us the Olympic curse!
1 race in the men's, 2 in the women's. supposedly better forecast for tomorrow but room for error is shrinking.
Interesting full race analyses; this one of the men's race: d3feeyouts5dvk.cloudfront.net/pdfDocuments/OG2024/SALMIQFOIL------------PREL000100--/Race_Analysis_1.0_C77X3579.PDF ; fastest guys are pushing 26 knots on the first reach, in 9 knots of wind....

Yes I believe we did qualify an Australian Female to go to Paris.
Sammie Costin from RQYS , but unfortunately a sports injury lead to surgery and she was forced to withdraw in May
