I watched the whole thing and all I learned in 37min is this: Some are longer and some are shorter....and we now have a 13" box instead of 10".

Hey Peter,
I watched this a couple of times now, so much great information to digest. What an amazing opportunity to hear 37 minutes from one of the greatest waterman and designers that its still performing at the top of the sport, i personally cant get enough! I missed the part about the 13 inch boxes??
Give it a rewatch from the 20 minute mark where he discusses the the relationship volume plays in the his design and then his discussion on hull concepts and how they interact in foilboards, so interesting. Plenty to learn from someone who is so very articulate and knowledgable.
BIGCUDA looks awesome in orange
8'7 x 24" x 130L
Also available in 8'3 x 21.5 at 115L
I can't tell because photos tend to distort stuff and not many side views these board, but these boards look like the deck and the bottom are on different planes(wedge like). Do these boards feel nose down when on foils? or do the foil base need shims? or nothing at all?
Got a VP on its way.
I'm interested in the VP what are the DIMs and volume please as I can't read/see them on the pics

8'12"?
Hahah yep. We don't have a single board across the line that overlaps. So if you say 9'1 we know it's the Mal, 9' is the x28 sup , 9'2 is the x 30 sup so might as well call it 8'12 I guess there's no rules right? We knew this one would have some question marks haha
I'm 100kg considering the BigCuda 8'7" 130 24". Currently own the 2023 Armstrong 135 8'3" 21.5", but wanting something a bit more stable. Anyone know the weight of the 8'7" BigCuda? How would one compare the BC to the new 2024 Armstrong 140l 8'5" 21 3/4" in terms of stability, speed in getting up on foil, responsiveness once on foil? I am a little concerning that the 24" wide BC would be like riding a barge once on foil.
Hey Dylan @pohaku -
What would you recommend size-wise for me at the following:
80 kg - 41 years old
Foil: Unifoil Progression 170
Local run is East Coast USA, often 10-15 knots, 1-3 ft surf, runs along beach break
Beginner for DW and foil surfing (prone/SUP), Experienced SUP surfer and Surfer
Currently SUP the Kalama 9'2 comfortably (love it) and prone a FFB 4'10 35 L board
Hoping to learn to SUP foil waves, flat water paddle up, and eventually move to downwinding here summer/fall.. and my dream to downwind in Puerto Rico in winter.
Looking at the VP and 8'3 Bigcuda, but open to feedback.

Hey mate! thank for detailed message, given you have great sup experience that's definitely a step ahead for sure. Your pretty much on the money with the 8'3 will give you max stability without feeling too big for your 80kg. You could also consider the 8'2. It'll be faster but harder than the 8'3. In my professional opinion I think you will love the 8'3 and maybe set sub 20" width in your sights as your progression board 12-18 months from now. Hope that helps !
I bought the original 8ft Kalama Barracuda for $3.5k. Three others at the beach I ride bought the board and my reward after less than 12 months. Available for $2300. I don't care as I have no intention to sell currently and love the board. But it shows the contempt buyers are treated with!
