Cape York to Bundaberg coral reef fin fish now off limits

Fishing for coral reef fin fish species is off limits from November 3 to November 7 with the last five day spawning closure for 2010 coming into effect.

The closures affect from the tip of Cape York in Queensland's north to Bundaberg in the south (the southern boundary is latitude 24o50'S) and are in place to protect the fish at an important part of their life cycle.

Species covered by the ban include coral trout, cod, emperor, parrotfish, sweetlip, tropical snapper and sea perch.
