Currumbin's biggest prawn cocktail!

Imagine how good this guy would taste if you cooked him up and covered him in garlic!

This week Kye Longhurst was fishing with his Dad Sean in the Currumbin Creek on the south coast of QLD, when he pulled in his cast net to find this beauty! Measuring in at over 30cm long, the Leader Prawn had feelers stretching to 70cm and weighed in at over half a kilo! They were originally looking for some live baits, using a cast net to bring in some littlies to teach Kye how to cast properly.

With an exclamation of “Dad I think there’s something big in here!” Young Kye pulled this beauty in.

Tiger prawns this big aren’t that common in Australia, although there have been plenty in this size range caught before. You could probably cook it up too, because this monster is just a bigger-than-your-average-fisho’s tiger, called a 'leader' prawn. Why? Well, if you were a prawn you'd probably follow this guy around too!

Judging by the picture in the kitchen adjacent, they probably did cook it up - hope it tasted good!
