Improved access to the Barham River in Apollo Bay

Local and visiting fishos in Apollo Bay have had $30,000 put towards building a fully accessible fishing platform and other associated on-ground works courtesy of the Enhanced Recreational Fishing Program.

The new platform allows anglers of all ages and abilities to fish for species such as black bream, estuary perch and brown trout, a change from the unstable and slippery banks fishos previously had to contend with.

Another change is also to be made shortly: two new fish cleaning tables will be installed though the Program.  One table will be positioned at the boat ramp and the other, specifically designed for installation on piers, will be positioned on the main wharf to service the large volume of land-based anglers that fish there.
