Trout stocking in Tassie's Meander River takes place
Tasmania's Inland Fishery Service has stocked 2,500 rainbow trout weighing around 100g into the Meander River as a trial to check its potential as a rainbow trout fishery additional to the resident brown trout already found in the River
The rainbows were released into four different locations in the River, below the Meander Dam.
It's envisioned that the preference of the rainbow trout to inhabit the faster flowing sections of the river, and the brown trout to inhabit the pools, will complement each other and provide an improved fishery for Tasmanian recreational anglers.
